Rest for the Weary discussion

While it is generally acknowledged that generosity is "one of" if not "the" surest way(s) to free yourself of worry as you throw the whole burden for your maintenance on Jesus, it has been, for me, a real struggle over the years. All of 2 Cor 9 is very helpful in getting the matter of giving in the right perspective but I especially liked verse 7 where the Corinthians were told only to give what they decided in their heart that they could give gladly and that God loves a cheerful giver. That seemed to break a logjam in my heart and at times I've felt so worry free because of it in spite of severely straightened circumstances. Receiving as from the Lord is also a grace and difficult to master; not sure I can give good advice in that area. I do know that God wants us to cast all our care on him because he cares for us. Prosperity may come our way but greedy prosperity will only lead to feelings of vulnerability and want, and ultimately to real poverty even while scrambling for every nickle you can make by hook and by crook.
