Does anybody here use an e-reader or are we all still paper and ink fans? I must admit I do prefer a real book (especially as I read in bed mostly), but I have used the Kindle ap on my iPad and it is really handy for checking the preview of a book. I'm not sure I could read a whole book on it....although I can see the benefit when travelling.

My Kindle and I have spent many happy hours in Waiting rooms and Reception areas. I find the Kindle easy to use and I have read more ebooks since January this year than for the previous 6 months. I still enjoy holding and reading bound books, but, I guess storage is my main issue.
I just finished reading a novel for the first time on an ereader (my husband's iPad). I had resisted until then, but I was keen to start reading a book (PM Newton's The Old School) that wasn't in my local bookstore and I preferred not to wait for them to get it in. The book was great and I didn't find the ereader as invasive as I expected. In fact, the back lighting and cover let me read in bed after my husband had turned the lights out without keeping him from sleeping. It's been a nice, unexpected plus to be able to keep reading without a grumpy husband ;) The only thing I found weird was not having a physical sense of where I was in the book, but that wasn't too bothersome.
I do preview on my iPod, but have never read an whole book on there. I wouldn't rule it out (if, for example, I couldn't get the book another way), but for now I think I will remain a "real" book reader.
It was suggested to me recently that Australia has been slower than most markets in adopting e-books. I'm interested to know... Who thinks there's some truth to this, and in what ways do you see things shifting right now?
The ease with which we can obtain great ebooks is exciting. Apart from the great selections on Goodreads and Amazon, don't overlook the Project Gutenberg Australia - http://gutenberg.net.au/crime-mystery...Whilst not all Australian authors, there are some wonderful authors and books there to be read at no cost!
Simply save the book to a file on your computer, convert it via Calibre to a mobi file and download to your Kindle. Great!
It took me a while to adapt to e-books, but the ability to take my library with me anywhere I went was just too tempting. But, I still prefer physical copies.
I use e-readers to read books that are gifted to me for review but other than that I only read physical books.
