I don't think any of the main characters (maybe apart from Saiman) feature in it, so we're not missing out on any Da Hotness goodness! In these days of ebooks, I wish publishers would throw together a site where you could pick your own stories for an anthology. Like maybe they have 10 stories available, and you pick four of those. While you put in your credit card details, the software generates an ebook with your stories and emails it to you. That might encourage me to buy, cos I could pick the authors I like. Most of the time with anthologies, you really want to read one story and you might read a second one, since it's there, but you don't really give a dam about the rest. It feels like a waste of money to me.
I agree with you, but usually PN Enrond antologies are very good and so I did'n resist and bought it ^_^.
Retribution clause is a very short story (more or less 36 pages) featuring Adam (that's Saiman cousin) and Siroun (a new character).
No one of the main characters features in it. Saiman is only mentioned (he sends a gift to Adam).
It's a sweet short story, well paced.

I read Retribution Clause. The writing style is great like always and Siroun is interesting. But the story is very short, like Cristina said, and not that exciting.
I buy a lot of Anthologies. I have found a number of series that I have since purchased because of a story I read in an Anthology. Some people are better at putting together Anthologies than others, and it never hurts to see who is featured in the book before buying.
I bought Hex Appeal because there were a number of authors I already read in it, and a few I hadn't; unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to reading it yet (damn TBR list!). I did not buy this book specifically for the IA story, and from the comments, it sounds like its a good thing I didn't! ;-)

I think the main purpose of Anthologies is to strong arm you into reading new authors ... I mean if you have to pay for it to get YOUR author you kind of read the others so you feel you have your moneys worth
I love Retribution Clause! It's not a must-read book since it's barely related to Kate Daniels universe. But I have to say that despite its short length, it is a great short story. Adam and Siroun deserve their own series!

Yeh I see that, and I usually read them but I've never gone out and bought a book on the basis of a short story. It usually works the other way around. Some anthologies have put me off ever reading an author! The best anthology I read was Wolfsbane and Mistletoe where I liked all the stories but I have no desire to read more of any of the authors I didn't know previously.
I'm firmly with Lannister on this one!

Hex Appeal contains Retribution Clause, a short story set in Kate Daniels world. It takes place in Philadelphia and features a cousin of perhaps the most controversial character in Kate's universe. This short story takes place outside of the main series plot and can be read at any point.
