What are some of your favorite books--and why? Does anyone have just one favorite book? jess

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

I have many but my very favorite is Afternoon of an Autocrat by Norah Lofts. I guess the number two fav might be The House on the Strand. I really like the style of writing. I have also read Penmarric 7 times!

Ilyn Ross (ilyn_ross) | 18 comments My favorite is Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead. I love its hero: Howard Roark. Next is Ayn's Atlas Shrugged.

Yui, I haven't read any of these. Which would I read first (your absolute favorite)?

I haven't been reading much lately--have been sad because of personal issues. What book will help me move from this? I can't read genre fiction right now, but need to find something that speaks to me and moves me. I have thought about reading Shakespeare, but I don't know if any of the plays or sonnets can hold my attention since I've read them so many times. Any suggestions?

Ellie I find Paulo Coelho's books very moving....I like all of them, but By The River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept and Veronika Decides To Die are the one that speak to me the most.
I hope your feeling more happy soon....I will have a look at my shelves tonight for the other things I read when Im feeling sad....I have gone temporarily blank!
