Natasha | 6 comments Ok I don't mean to whine but I've gotten alot of possitive responce from publishers and me dad's excited but my mother is obsessed with finding a new man to replace my father and doesn't GAF. Stupid, I know but it bugs me. Every time I try and talk with her about the latest publisher she complanes about her newest man. Am I crazy or is it messed up.

No, it's messed up... Are you a published author or something? Just curious...

Chandani (milkduds920) | 41 comments Yeah. Thats what moms are supposed to do. If you have to just rely on your dad. SOmetimes 1 is just enough.

Natasha | 6 comments Thanks guys...I was a wreck last night, and it's nice to know I can come here and vent a little. My dad is awesome and supports me 100%. He'll give me feedback on the storyline, the characters, and even wants to have a lawyer looks at the contracts before I sign them. My mother...I don't know, but as you say, my dad will have to be enough. I just end up depressed when I talk to my mother about anything important so from now on I think I just won't bother.

And as per the question above I've sent out queries for my first novel and already, after less then a month have gotten possitive responses and request for full manuscripts from several publishers. A couple of the publishers I've been in contact with several times and from my dads advice had to let them know that I was being considered by more then one publisher and would only sign with the place that gave me the best offer. Sounds silly but to me (which is going to be interesting to explain to my dads lawyer) best offer isn't biggest advance. It's who's going to put more into advertising and making sure it gets the best exposure. I'd rather wait another year for a publisher that will put the time and effort in then give it to one that will have my book just online or on a back shelf somewhere.

Anyway wish me luck...and thanks for your support guys. I think when I get good news I'll come here to share it rather then getting on the phone ;)

Emma | 99 comments LoL, true Dean, let us unite. Haha.
You sound like you put so much effort into the writing you've created and I hope that you find the best publishers for your book!

Natasha | 6 comments seriously guys thank you so much...I get more support here then I would have ever thought possible. I won't forget you guys when I get into the crazy world of a published writer! xxoo

good luck! I bet you're going to be great if you've had a ton of offers! It must be kind of annoying to have a mom who doesn't really care. I dream of being a writer when I'm older and it must be SO cool for you when you're going to be on! When it's published tell us about it =D... good luck once again!

Natasha | 6 comments Thanks...I will deffinately tell everyone. About reading my work I had it up at one point but I had to take it down. I was looking for some people to give a screening of my work so if you'd be interested in giving a review I could send it to you. Let me know ;)

Please don't tell me that a publisher you are considering is PublishAmerica...Their contract looks fine but there are some serious "traps" witht his company. I have a post you might want to check out here.
