It all depends on the individual . If an individual cannot bear the suffering any longer , it would only be kind to relieve him of the pain. Should definitely be made legal.
Yeah, it should be legal. Who is anyone to judge the anguish of another person?
Building on what Aleph says, it would eb the sort of thing that would have to be written in to a living will, that you create and sign while sound of mind.
ON the "is it moral" grounds, yes, it is. Of course maintaining human dignity is moral, of course ending pain that won't stop any other way is moral. We are more than happy to euthanise our pets, and the reasons we give is "to end their suffering", so why do we currently insist on people having to live through the suffering until they die naturally.
Aleph wrote: "Isn't there already a topic for this? Maybe not, i can't seem to find it on the topics list."
We started discussing it in the self harm/suicide topic.
And I agree with what everyone's said so far: It should be allowed for patients who request it while in sound mind, or if they are in a prolonged coma and the family cannot afford to keep them living.

And for those of you who don't know, euthanizing is killing somebody with an incurable illness painlessly, to prevent unnecessary suffering. Mercy killing, basically.
