Shane steadily walked through the forest, thinking about the school and wondering what kind of people would be there. He heard a crack from behind him and stopped and turned slowly and cautiously. His eyes wandered searchingly but a minute later he saw nothing more, so turned and continued walking. He was walking across the small bridge when he heard it again. He decided it was nothing and continued, though the feeling of being watched lingered.
Shane jumped when he saw someone. He knew.someone was there! He ran a hand through his hair and said, "No, it's...fine. Sorry I scared you," he said, then paused as he stared at her. "What are you doing here?"
"What do you mean? Is this private property? Oh im so sorry." She starts walking backwards away from him. Brooklynn is so innocent and unknowing. She seems like she couldnt harm a fly but she had harmed something much bigger than a fly.
"Oh." Brook looks any where but at him feeling hurt and alone. She never saw this man alone and she is feeling a bit nervous being almost alone with him. She sighs and forges on with the conversation wanting to make friends before rumors start to float around. "Im Brooklynn. People either call me Brook or Lynn. I like both. How about you?"
Zarabeth stuck her hand in the water calmly and let a fish get near her. When the time was right, she grabbed by fish with her hand. It squirmed and splashed, but Zarabeth kept holding onto it. She needed to know if her power worked on just humans or not. After a few seconds, the fish was limp her her hand. "Oh god," she breathed out. She didn't mean to kill the fish.
Shane nodded slightly, holding back a sigh. "I'm Shane," he said, glancing at her. He theb looked to the left of her at the rose bush and saw one budding flower of all the blossoming. His hand at his side he faced his.palm to the rose and clenched his hand, then slowly unlenched it. The rose blossomed fully and he felt satisfaction. Now it didn't look out of place.
Brooklynn watches him her eyes going wide. "How did you do that?" Her excited smile light up her features. She touched the rose gently with her finger just to make sure that it was in fact real. "I wish I could do something fantastic like that." Her tone is a bit wistful as her gaze turns back to him.
Zarabeth stood up and glanced around nervously. Wat was sohe going to do with a dead fish?! Then a few yards away she saw two people talking. She couldn't hear them, but could tell that they were speaking. She looked at the girl and thought she was pretty and her hair was nice. She looked at the boy and her hear did a flip. The dead fish slipped from her hand.
Brook looked at him sadly her eyes filling with tears. "You'll hate him dreadfully if I told you." Brook lets her tears fall freely thinking about what her brother told her last night and what she really did to that vampyre was worse than death but she hadnt meant to but her brother asked her if she had wanted the vamp to feed on her and the snswer was so obvious that what she truely was made her break out in fresh tears every time.
Shane stared at her, unmoving. He didn't know what to do, but he didn't like seeing her looking hurt. "It's okay," he said, unknowing. "You don't have to tell me."
Zarabeth snapped out of her gaze and picked up the dead fish with care. She still didn't know what she was going to do with it. Then she got an idea. She set the fish down on a stone and started to dig in the dirt with her hands. She placed the fish glently in the hole and covered it back up with dirt. She dusted her hands off and was pleased with her work but was also ashamed of herself for doing such a thing in the first place.
Brook's soften and wipes at her tears and says in a dead hollow voice knowing he would find out eventually. "Im a soul stealer. I steal souls. I didnt know until very recently. I have to steal souls for survival otherwise i die because i dont have a soul of my own. I burn out the energy in the souls that i take so i have yo replenish...reguraly."
"Oh. Interesting." Instead of being afraid, he was fascinated. "How? I mean... wow." He heard a noise behind him and turned and watched the girl at the lake for a moment, who was watching him apparently. He turned back to Brook with anticipation.
"Well i place my hand like this." She places her small childlike hand on his chest. "And i will your soul to come to me. I claim your life." Her hand drops from his chest. "What are you? Why arent you afraid?"
When he looked at her, Zarabeth froze a little but recovered quickly. She left the lake and moved behind a tree, well hiden. She wanted to be polite leave the two people alone, but she couldn't take her eyes of of the boy.
He nodded, thinking. "Wow," he repeated. He stared at her a moment, then finally said, "I'm a wizard." He shrugged his shoulders slightly. "And I wouldn't be complaining about your power. It's pretty awesome." His lips quirked into a small smile.
Brook wrinkles her forehead. "Really? One of the girls here. A siren. Ran away from me in terror. I dont think anyone here really wants me here, but thanks. At least one person thinks my killing people is a pretty amazing thing." Her lips turn up at the edges. "Where is your wand wizard?" Her teasing tone returns.
"Huh." Then he rolled his eyes at her last comment. "I don't need one," he said. "Haven't really needed one for...well, forever." He paused, glancing behind us. He felt that strange feeling again thay he got when something was off.
Shane stared at the girl behind the tree. The same girl at the lake. He knew she was still there. He stared at the girl curiously, wondering why she would want to be there, listening to someone's conversation.
Zarabeth nervously played with her braclet. "Um...hello," she said weakly. She knew she should have let the second she say them. They were probably here before she was anyway. Zarabeth wanted to say how sorry she was and tha she had heard nothing, but her mouth wouldn't work.
She looked at the girl. She was even prettier up close. Zarabeth was getting even more nervous now that the girl was poking her. She took a small step away from her. "Uh...my name's Zarabeth...but I should just...go."
"You can stay, if you want," he quickly said. He wondered why this girl was so nervous. What was there to be nervous about, he thought? He stared at her.
Brook looks saddened. "Is it because of me? What I am? Ill go if you want. I promise i wont hurt you." Brook stops toucing her and talks to her as she would to a freightened animal.
Zarabeth glanced at the boy and looked away instantly. His eyes is what she found so intriguing. They were so blue. "But...why aren't you guys mad at me?"
She calmed down, but only a little bit. "Um...well..." She would say that she would be angry if someone was listening to her conversation, but the was, she wouldn't be. The boy's hint of teasing made her nervous again. "I should really just go. Sorry if I interrupted anything." She gavea weak smile.
Brook glances at her watch her face turning a bit ashen. "I should go. I have to-" she glances at both of them before turning around and running from them. Their prescence was too strong. Too full of life. Their souls were calling to her and she needed to get far away from them before she was tempted.
He was walking across the small bridge when he heard it again. He decided it was nothing and continued, though the feeling of being watched lingered.
