Persephone Books discussion

Is anyone ready to start discussing this one yet? I really enjoyed it. I was very surprised by the abrupt ending to the first few stories, and then I got used to it. The endings were fascinating--left a lot to the imagination and kept me thinking about the stories days later!

I read this one a few months ago. I really enjoyed the stories too, the dream-like quality of them, but they seemed a little distant. I was not caught up in them. Maybe that's a good thing - as you say, it leaves you thinking about them and they keep on living in the mind afterwards.

I haven't read Suite Francaise. I wonder if it has the same feel to it.

I liked the stories in Diamonche, and the writing was beautiful. Suite Francoise is just wonderful, I loved it. Such a shame we lost her talent so early.
