Something Old, Something New ...

description

June is the most popular month for weddings. Why? Perhaps it's popularity is due to the fact that the month of June was named after the Roman goddess Juno (Iunius) who is the goddess of marriage. While the real reason may have been lost, it's popularity still remains.

To honor the fact that June is the month for weddings the following poem will be used as the base for this challenge:

Something old, something new, Something borrowed, something blue, And a silver sixpence in her shoe.
You will read two books ...
For Book A choose one of the following options
Option 1: Read something old (Perhaps a classic or a book you've owned for a while and haven't read or an old favorite you'd like to read again)
Option 2: Read something new (Published this year or a book you just purchased)
Read Something borrowed (from friend or library)
Read Something blue (has a blue cover or has blue in the title)
Read something with luck in the title or has a good luck charm mentioned (since I doubt we'll find one that has something to do with a sixpence for your shoe)

For Book B:Read a book which has the words bride, wedding, groom, marriage, etc in the title or has a wedding that takes place in the book.

Crystal Arcand | 85 comments For Book A, I chose Option 2 - something borrowed. We borrowed The Foot Book (27 pages) from the library.

For Book B, I read Miss Spider's Wedding (40 pages) because it has the word wedding in the title.

(67 pages total)

Option 2: Read something new
a book you just purchased)

A Man Called Dave: A story of Triumph and Forgiveness
Dave Peizer 352 pages

This is the conclusion of a trio of autobiographical books. It begins with the account of Pelzer’s severe physical and emotional abuse beginning at age four (one of the three worst cases of reported abuse in California history).
In this book, Dave narrates his life from the time he enlisted in the Air Force to the present day.

I read the first book “I Child Called it” several years ago and reread it last month. Found the next two books at Half Price Books and bought them.

For Book B: has the
wedding in the title or has a wedding that takes place

The Wedding
Nicholas Sparks 304 pages

Sparks has a different style of writing which is a break from what I usually read.

The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks
