It looks like this book might not be readily available. That could be the problem with lack of participation.

Hmm... I guess we should start checking that on the non-King reads then. I'd never thought about it.

I wouldn't have realized it, that being a newish book and all. I didn't check all editions, but the ones I saw on Amazon were available through other vendors.

Ok then, I think Dark Matter is incredibly atmospheric. (view spoiler)[ The relationship between the narrator and the guy who he seems to hero-worship (Gus- I think) almost implies a real love interest on his part. Perhaps the novel doesn't explicitly state that the narrator loves Gus because of the time when the book was set when homosexuality was less acceptable? Just a thought.
I also thought the bear-post and the idea of someone creeping around the boardwalk really terrifying. It's interesting to discuss whether there really was a ghost (I think so) or whether the narrator had succumbed to cabin fever/mental illness (hide spoiler)]

I didn't find this book suspenseful enough; it didn't really creep me out, as I expected. It was well-written, but just didn't keep my attention as well as many other ghost stories I've read. I hate to disagree with another member, but I was just bored in placed. Sorry!

P.S. - I had to purchase a copy of this as my library network didn't have a copy to loan me. I suspect folks are having trouble getting hold of a copy without buying one, as stated earlier.

Speaking as a Public Librarian, don't forget about Interlibrary Loans.I try to remind our patrons of this service, but not all librarians do.

Inter-library loans are GREAT, IMO!

I do interlibrary loans all the time, but this time I couldn't get Dark Matter, so I ordered it from Amazon. Now I'll sell it on Amazon, if I can get any bites.
