talk about the 2nd book in the caster chronicles

So..I just finished reading beautiful darkness and I have certain questions.

1.How Macon shifted from dark to light simply because he was trapped in the arclight?I didn't get it.
2.I thought incubus was something you were born as and not something you can transform into by a single bite.It seemed a little weird to me that Link suddenly became one.Not that I don't like this development but it seems out of place.
3.Ok I get that Macon cheated death by being in the arclight but isn't the book of moons suppose to get something in return for bringing Ethan back to life?I hope this would be somehow resolved in the next books.

I love this series and the characters but I think the world needed a little more building and explaining because some things seem random especially in this book.
