Emo people are described as, "those freaky dark kids who have black hair, black clothes, tattoos, peircings, listen to dark music, wear heavy eyeliner, and cut themselves and write dark poetry."

What are your thoughts? Is emo that, or is it something else? Or is it anything at all?

Ive been called emo my entire life...i never understood why. People would ask me "Are you emo?" my response was always "emo? what is that?"...and they never had an answer. It was funny to see them squirm.

I had the Emo haircut before Emo was invented!

Definitions of "Emo" that I found:

Definition: Emo is an abbreviation for Emotionally Disturbed teen or pre-teen person. One would think that the whole world is against them and even consider severance from friends and/or family to provide the need for more personal attention/involvement.
Usage: Tina is such and Emo, moping around allday long thinking the world is against her.

Definition: A person, usually teenage, that has trouble handling his/her own emotions, and/or is emotionally unstable. Can have multiple means of releasing or inducing emotions, such as talking, mutilation(usually of self or inanimate objects), or even listening to music. Most emos are pushed to suicide by others, and usually become emo due to a personality trait that is frowned upon unjustly in society, such as bisexuality. Emos usually do not want to be. Can be considered a mental disorder.
Usage: I wrote this definition out for you people because I am an emo and want you to see life the way we do.

I might be considered as "emo". I used to cut and self-harm, I cry a lot (but less than I used to), listen to loud screamo, metal, and rock, sometimes making it so loud that I can't think- a good thing, sometimes. Then I don't have to hear the demons in my head. I love the emo style. I'm going to dye the tips of my pixie cut blue. I want to get a tattoo and a double piercing. I love writing poetry.

I deck out in black and a lot of people call me emo snd goth so i gave up and started going with it. and back when i was in a phase where i was really suicidal and giving up on everything i said "sure whatever people are saying" but i do listen to a lot of alternetive, hard core rock stuff. depending on my mood screamo. love soulja boy screamo im up for that anytime

I think it's kinda silly to have labels. Emo, Goth, Nerd, Rich, Poor, Popular. I mean, underneath, everyone is the same... and unless we're all soup cans, I don't think we need to have labels.
