William,
Thanks for these reco's. "On The Beach" is a true classic and a must read for apocalyptic junkies.
"The Reapers Are Angels" sounds interesting, I added it to my to-read list. Thanks.

Swan Song and the Stand are awesome reads. I am a fan of I am Legend. The original story and movie with Vincent Price.I loved King's Cell and suggest to anyone Tim Curran's The Devil Next Door.
The Stand was fun. I kept trying to imagining myself as a character in this book but I couldn't see myself going to either Boulder or Las Vegas. I was thinking, "Hey, you know the Biltmore is just sitting there in a beautiful landscape, excellent Zone 7 climate for gardening.......and on my way there I could search the bluegrass for surviving horses in order to re-establish the equine race, which is a bit more important than repopulating this world with humans."To be honest The Handmaid's Tale was the most disturbing and affecting dystopian fiction I have read.
The Handmaid's Tale
I finished up Fungoid
by William Meikle this weekend and found it to be a very worthy addition to the list. I think Meikle is also way underrated and more people should discover this Scottish talent that now resides in Nova Scotia.
