Buy another iPod or other MP3 device?

I have a 4th gen Nano & I didn't even realize that it was possible to backup. I'm gonna have to try that, lol! Hopefully I can get it to work. ;-)Sorry, I don't have any recommendations.
I'm a firm believer in the Sansa Clip line of MP3 players. They're tiny - about the size of an iPod Shuffle (matchbook size) complete with the clip on the back, which I love. They are somewhat cheaper than the Shuffle and also have larger capacities available. In addition, the newer versions have a slot for a micro SD card. They are compatible with Audible files, but I think (not totally sure on this) that the files have to be downloaded to the Audible Manager, not iTunes. I have a couple of them that I've been using for years, and they just keep on going!Oh, and as far as the reverse issue goes, it's a push button - quick push and release to go back to the beginning of the track, or push and hold to fast reverse.
I'm also a big fan of the Sansa Devices. I use the 1st generation Sansa Fuze. It's similar in size and shape to the 3rd generation iPod Nano, but has a better memory capacity thanks to the expandable memory option. I have a 32gig MicroSD card in mine and have about 40-50 audiobooks on the device. From the description KarenH gave, the fuze seems to work exactly like the clip. The biggest negative I can think of is the incompatibility with iTunes. Audiobooks have to be synced from audible manager or drag and dropped manually from iTunes.
It's not to much trouble for audiobooks but it is a hassle for podcasts.
I should also mention that the Sansa Fuze is a durable little device. It's had to be. In the three years I've had it I have dropped or bashed it to many times to count and it still works fine.
Now that I think about it. It does still have the same problem with the rewind function as the iPod Nano.
I use an ipod touch 32 gb for my Audible downloads, works great and a Sansa Clip+, Old Creative Zen and Zen V for library downloads (the zens bookmark properly). Also have a Sony Walkman 545 which has the best sound but doesn't bookmark properly for audiobooks.
I have the Ipod Classic 160GB, I have over three hunderd audiobooks downloaded. Must or library downloads and a lot of sales.

Sherlygod - does the touch 32gb reverse easily without a wheel?
And thanks for the input. I will admit that I hope to find another iPod since I'm used to iTunes. But I'll use Audible if I need to...

Use the wheel to control the volume and the arrows to skip or go back.
The reverse is good, each disc shows you how many minutes remending on the disc and how many you already listened to. You can go backwards by minutes and you can go forward by minutes. One minute at a time, and the chapters of each disc is also listed on another screen. You can go back or forward by each chapter as well.
I also have the 7th generation iPod Classic. It does use the wheel, and I agree, reversing is a pain. I love the 160 gig space, though. I have a ton of books and a lot of music on it and it's only 1/3rd full. What I hate about the iPod is iTunes. I hate it! I never buy from the apple store. If I want music, I get it from Amazon or other sources.
I finally found the new MP3 player for me and it's on my birthday wish list in August. The new iPod nano. It's only 16GB but I'm used to adding and removing books to keep my selection low on the device. It clips on just as I prefer and has no wheel. It backs up just as I would on my computer. I can't wait.
The audible app for the iphone makes going back a breeze...there is even a icon you can tap that will take you back 60 seconds...

I have the first generation of that nano and I can move around where I want to be in the book mine does not have the icon to take you back 60 sec's....it would be so much easier if it did...but I do like that nano better then the 4th gen nano...
You asked if the iPod touch reversed easily--the answer is definitely! You can go to chapters and you can use the slider bar to go back anywhere you want. Download the iPod touch manual for free and read through it for more features.
My nano died, and my iPod classic's rca jack is funky so I can't adjust the sound (I can still play it through speakers via the charging port). I'm using an old iPhone and my current iPhone but it's making me crazy, and I just don't have the money for a new nano (which I'd love) or a new classic (I'd love one of each). I've had a sansa in the past but I had to use it through my husband's PC (I use macs). Can you use audible manager (or whatever it's called) on a Mac? Because as far as I know you can't use a Sansa with iTunes.
I use an iPod Touch, which is perfect for me because I buy all my audiobooks from Audible and their app works well with the Touch because it has a large screen. It is child's play to go back 30 secs - just tap on the 30 sec icon. But the min reason I like it is that I can download the books so easily over wi-fi.My Touch is second-hand an getting old, so I'm wondering about getting another before they become completely obsolete - maybe a refurbished 62GB.
The iPod nano current generation appears to have the same large screen. If so, and you download the Audible app, you would find going back 30 secs as easy as I do. If you're not using Audible, what do you use for listening? Does it have to be iTunes? If so, how do you go back 30 secs?

I'm thinking it is time to get another MP3 player. I have an iPhone but don't want to listen on it - I save it for calls and email and google. Does anyone have a recommendation for another MP3 player that is easier to reverse? Or is it the same with all?
