yes, she knew she was insane, but she didnt belong here. she couldnt breathe in the offending straightjacket, and her eyes were wide as she was led down the bright white hallways. their footsteps echoed on the tile floors and she hated the sound too loud in her ears. they paused to open a door for her, as if she couldnt very well do it herself, if it wasnt for the wretched thing they had forced her to wear. it continued like this for many minutes before they paused in front of a grander, heavier-looking door. the grip on her shoulders slackened and she used this opprotunity to run for it, hearing a call of surprise far behind her...Horatio sat in his high-backed leather chair, staring out the large plex-glass window. His elbow rested on the arm rest, and he stroked the stubble on his chin.
"Sir! The girl has escaped!" an exsasperated worker said, rushing into Horatio's office.
"Has she?" Horatio said in a silky smooth voice, "Lock down the whole building. She won't escape us this time."
the bright white hurt her eyes and she couldnt move her upper body to gain momentum as she ran, but she could deal with it. she'd deal with the straightjacket once she escaped form this place. and she would escape; she had to. she ran for what seemed like ages, taking random twists and turns in the labryinth of identical hallways, not knowing where the exit was from where she had been.
Horatio couldn't hear the retreating footsteps. He whirled around angrily in his chair and stood up.
"Well?" he asked, eyes flashing. The worked nodded nervously, eyes wide in fear, then ran out of the office. Horatio returned to his calm demeanor and sat down in his chair. He smirked to himself. Why the girl ran, he didn't know. She would just end up being caught again.
she hated how the footsteps echoed against the walls and came back to her ears amplified more than once. she winced and paused to kick off her shoes, and kept going with a more quiet retreat, trying to find any source of natural light.
Horatio looked at his watch angrily. What was taking them so long? He sighed, frustrated, and walked out of his office. He would get the girl himself if her had to. He held his cane tightly and walked down the hallways, his shoes making quiet thudding sounds.
oh, good lord, she could hear other footsteps. it wouldnt take this little time for them to find her, she knew. was she running in circles?
Horatio could hear her footsteps."You know you can't run." he hissed threateningly(sp?),"You'll just make it harder on yourself."
((you spelled it right!))she let out a shaky breath and took a sharp left, scraping her shoulder on the corner of the wall. ooh, maybe that would tear the fabric...
Horatio muttered something under his breath and quickened his pace. Those bumbling fools were nowehere to be found. He shouldn't have hired them in the first place. He sighed, deciding that he would think it over later; after he captured the girl.((what's her name?))
((getting to that. something eccentric....))she glanced around, not hearing footsetps any more. she paused and tried to scrape the fabric against the corner again, and heard a faint tearing sound. she smiled slightly, but didnt have time to be proud or happy. she tore the fabric a few more times before she could vaguely move her shoulder.
Horatio started running, his jacket billowing out behind him."Come out, come out...wherever you are." he said in a menacing sing-song voice.
shoot. her eyes widened as she heard that awful horrible unnerving voice. she tried to move her arm again, and was thought that one more tear would do it pretty well, but that voice was just too close. she took off running again, breathing heavily.
Horatio smirked evilly, he was close. He could almost smell her fear."There's no use running..." he hissed.
oh, there was every use in running. it would get her away from him, for one thing. it may very well get her out of this awful place, a thing she had desperately wanted to do for what seemed like forever, but hadnt really been that long. but she didnt care, trying to run faster and scratch at the fabric at the same time, and trying not to fall. but she still didnt know where she was going.
Horatio growled quietly and quickened his pace. For an old guy like him, he was pretty fast. His knuckles became white from holding his cane tightly. His breathing was even, but gradually becoming shallower.
now, maybe if she outran the guy, then he'd eventually tire out and she'd be free to wander the halls aimlessly, trying still to find a way out, and without panicked thoughts messing up her instincts. she took another sharp turn, scraping her other shoulder, but she didnt care anymore.((should he catch her?))
((maybe...))Horatio wiped a drop of sweat off his brow. He hd to get her, before she escaped. He gritted his teeth together.
((lol))she let out a shaky breath. now which way? ack, just away from the footsteps! anywhere! she took another left, almost stumbling, but she caught herself on the wall and kept going.
ugh, how did anyone get around in this place? every hallway was identical! she rolled her eyes to the ceiling and kept going.
dire, eh? what was worse than being locked up in a huge labyrinth of a white building and being escorted around wearing a straightjacket? anything was better than this.
"Listen, kid. We can do this the easy way, or the extremely painful way. You choose." he threatened.
((Hello! I am going to let you keep this, as sometimes adding onto a group story can get the creativity flowing. However, do not get into debates about what should happen. Those will be very much unappreciated.))
the easy way would be to get out of here as soon as she possibly could. she would bet on it. she kept going desperately.
Horatio passed by a glass panel and skidded to a stop. He broke through the glass, cutting his hand a bit. He pressed the blaring red button, and an alarm started ringing.
Horatio continued running, but slowed down his pace. His breath was ragged. Curse himself for not working out as much as he used to.
she could hear the footsteps getting louder. she didnt have a chance at this rate. geez, where was the exit?
and then they just... stopped. altogether. nothing. silence. what the heck was going on? she stopped as well for a brief moment, glad for the small rest. she tried to tear her way out of the rest of the fabric limiting her movement.
she was almost free of the thing, she was sure. just a few more scratches and she could run freely...
she gasped but finally tore through the straightjacket. she froze, hoping that she might be able to slip through his grasp.
((ooh, what if she doesnt speak engilsh? idk why that popped into my head...))she didnt respond, just stood there patiently, waiting for his guard to go down so she could run again.
His other hand curled around her arm."Now come along." he said, pushing her down the hall.
((ooh, yes :]))
((lol okay.))she took a step and stopped, standing there, glancing around like an animal that just heard an off sound.
she took another step forward, then pivoted and took a few steps back so she was standing behind him.
Horatio whirled around and wrapped a hand around her neck."Listen, you will do as I say." he spat, shaking her slightly.
((gtg soon, so I might disappear))
((what?? nooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!))she looked back at him defiantly, speaking for the first time since she had come here. "i will listen to what is told to me. however, i do not have to obey."
her eyes flashed and she kicked him in the shin. she understood his language perfectly well, and refused to speak it. so she stayed with the Old Language.
Horatio released his grip and winced. he kneeled down, hugging his shin. That girl kicked hard."You'll pay for that, kid." he muttered
White, white, white. Everywhere! Tears started to well in her eyes, more in frustration than in sadness. His footsteps behind her quickened, and she willed her feet to move faster. His threats followed her everywhere. Curse it! Curse it all!!
