Hi, I'm a YA fiction author, and I've been a lacto-ovo-vegetarian since May 2010. I decided to go vegetarian because a friend of mine asked me why I was anti-abortion, but a meat eater, and I realized I didn't have a good enough reason to eat one more piece of meat. I love being a vegetarian, I lost weight as a vegetarian, I feel healthier, and most importantly, I'm not hurting animals anymore.
When people ask me why I'm veg, I tell them all my reasons-health, animals, environment, and statistics etc.
But when I ask myself that question, I have a different answer: I love peace, I want to promote peace, and murdering animals is not promoting peace. More than that, being some one that is so selfish she has to kill animals for her own pleasure (because meat eating is for pleasure)-that's NOT the person I want to be. And I won't be that person. Ever again.
I actively promote vegetarianism whenever I can, because there are a gazillion reasons to go veg, and just as many reasons not to eat meat. But especially, I do it for my dog Bridget, who is there to remind me everyday, that your best friend doesn't have to be human, and animals have some of the biggest hearts on the planet.
I'm an ovo-lacto-vegetarian as well, though I try to limit the ovo-lacto part. I would go vegan, but live in an omni household so we compromise a bit for sanity's sake. I live in Cheyenne WY with 4 kids, 2 dogs, and my fiancee.

I'm a vegan, been veg-something for about 30 years now. Oh god. I just realized how old I am. Hmm.
I'm a graphic designer living in Seattle, a spinster with two cats (I'm one cat below the Crazy Cat Lady, right? RIGHT??), and my favorite things to do in my off time are gardening, reading, and I'll admit a love for tv.
I would not call myself an activist, although I am pretty open about my veganism and try to show by example how easy it is. I'm also a fatty, which confuses the crap out of people.
I'm an almond, I think.

Hello everyone, and who brought the chips? I've got a killer roasted bell-pepper-and-mango guacamole to dip into. Those yummy veggie dishes are a big part of our persuasive arsenal, are they not? When my meat-eating friends ask whether I miss meat, I smile and say, quite truthfully, that I've never had a bad meal since giving up meat ... so what's to miss? Matter of fact, meatless cooking is so much more imaginative and pleasing, in my opinion.

No going back for me.
I'm also raising a vegetarian dog. Our three-year-old boxer is absolutely healthy, and I'm so glad I don't have to buy meat for her. It can be done, amigos.
Well, my nineteen-year-old daughter adopted vegetarianism on her own at fifteen, thought parental influence was no doubt at play. The wife's a veggie too. So no probs in the home.
I really look forward to chatting with you all, and to exploring the intersection of literature and vegetarianism.
So long for now!

   Hi, I just joined :)
Hi, I just joined :)I'm a student from the UK, and I've been vegan for a little over a year. Quite simply, I saw 'Meet Your Meat' and haven't gone back since. I'd be a leafy green, because then I could photosynthesise lots of pretty light!
I am 20 years old and from Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
I am 20 years old and from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I am an ovo-lacto, as well. Like everyone else, I limit the eggs and milk. Cheese is really my only weakness right now. I've been doing this on and off since I was about 15, but as of now it's been about four months since I've eaten meat. I have a feeling that this time it's going to stick :) I like to read, paint, and craft. Oh, and I think I am a carrot :)

Hi Gertie and everyone else! I live in San Diego with my family and my kids and I are Vegetarians. We don't eat eggs or drink milk, but we do eat some dairy - tho that is on its way out. So soon I suppose I will be a Vegan! I buy only products that are NOT tested on animals as well as wear no animal products (fur, hairs, leather, etc...).
I'm a Fantasy Writer as well, and I've made all my main characters Vegetarian - tho I don't advertise it, they simply don't eat meat in the stories. LOL
I guess I'm a carrot - deeply rooted but frilly on top. LOL :D

"i often wonder what a plant would say if it knew it were green. something like, "you gotta be kidding me...i'm green? i hate green. i reject it. it's waste to me. red or violet i could see, i love those colors for photosynthesis. but green?"
it would probably be surprised that it's green and to learn that's how everyone else sees it.
i suppose it's kind of like how you can see a great deal about people by what they reject, ie by their garbage and waste.
space aliens looking at all the toxic waste, garbage and pollution we've created on our planet would see us by that and ask, "i wonder what those people of earth would say if they knew they were nothing more than a noxious virulence destroying their world and themselves?"
Hi guys, I'm Emma and I'm 16 from England and I'm a vegetarian, but pescatarian if there is nothing else on the menu (like in Poland, which is quite literally land of the meat-feast, where I have just been on holiday).

I am currently weaning myself off my insane all veg diet plan, which has landed me underweight and a bit scary looking.
Hi! My name is Sydney and I'm 18 years old. I've been a lacto-ovo vegetarian since I was 13, although I do try to eat vegan when I can. I also do not use or buy any products that are tested on animals.

I really want to be a nutritionist when I'm older, so I can work towards making people healthier and also to help others be more aware of vegetarian and vegan diets.
I really love to read, which is what I do in most of my spare time.
And I would probably be a leafy green, since green is my favorite color!

Share whatever you'd like. Not sure where to start? Try: where you live, how long you've been veg, what you like to do in your spare time, and if you'd rather be a.) a carrot b.) a boca chik'n patty c.) an almond or d.) a leafy green. :-P
