Monika (betci15) | 10 comments Hey I was just wondering about this for soo long and I always talk about it with friends. If you could choose any HP characters from all the books that died and you could make them live. Who would you like to see alive? And why?

I go with Severus Snape, because I think it would be interesting to see what Harry and all the others would say to him. I would like to see how Harry says "Thank you for saving my damn life."

And Who would you choose? And Why?

message 2: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) I second on Severus Snape.
He's the best man in Harry Potter.. He may be mysterious and unpredictable. The truth is, he secretly protects Harry for years. it was touching and his love for Lily never dies.

and

Fred Weasley.
It would never be the same without the other Weasley twin. tragic indeed.

Lisa Kean | 3 comments I can't choose between Sirius and Snape, I really wanted to have more of a relationship develop between Harry and Sirius and he is one of my favourite characters, but I agree with others that it would be interesting to see what would have happened once the truth about Snape was known, would he have wanted that known if he hadn't been dying though ? :)

indianvalantine | 7 comments Fred Weasley .Because, i can't imagine george with out fred

Ishani (ishanig) | 425 comments FRED, SNAPE, DUMBLDORE and SIRIUS!

Fred and George the wizard twins. Awesome together. Nothing without each other. There is no George without Fred!

Snape was the best man. LOYAL. BRAVE. LOVING. He had all the qualities. He died saving Harry and loved Lily so much that even if Harry reminded him of James he was ready to help him. He was th coolest double agent ever and I simply loved him

Hogwarts is nothing without Professor Dumbledore. The finest headmaster of Hogwarts. Harry's guardian. Muggles' saviour. I couldn't bare that the old man died. Dreadful!

Sirius... Harry's only family. Godfather to him. It would have been nice to see Harry and Sirius together a bit longer. He died too early. UNFAIR! Although it was an emotional twist, still Sirius' death= unbelievable!

Yeah, I had the hardest time try to choose between a few characters. But you are so right about Sirius. His death was actually the first one I cried over.

I agree with all your reasons. I never really understand why Fred had to die. You are so right, because there is no George without Fred. They were always "Weasly Twins"

message 14: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy (d_zzymisslizzy) Just one? Fred. I still get a little sad when I think about George being without him.

message 15: by Nikki (new)

Nikki (mugglemom) | 1 comments I agree about Snape. I would want to know the relationship, if any that develops between him and harry. I wonder if he would have ever left the Death Eaters if they hadn't come after Lilly. Would be interesting to see if he is truly a good man

I, too, say Snape. I totally agree that it would be very interesting to see what Harry and Snape say to eachother.

Dobby!

message 23: by Duks (new)

Duks (cnduks_) | 109 comments Merope Gaunt. I would love to see how Voldemort would've turned out if his mother lived.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

That would be interesting...I bet he'd still be evil, sadistic, and manipulative, though. Nurture might play a part but Nature definitely has something to do with it.

*unregistered_animagus* | 19 comments I'm all for Remus Lupin. I mean come on, J.K., he should've been able to live!!! I also think Sirius Black should have lived.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, Sirius had to die; that was a big turning point for Harry. As for Remus, I guess she wanted the Marauders together, you know?

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

James and Lily.

Yes, I think I would bring Snape back to life, and I cannot say why any better than you did, or than Harry did - "He was probably the bravest man I ever knew."

As to why I would not pick the others -

I would perhaps have said Lupin or Tonks, as I love them both and feel sorry for Teddy, but I think it would be too painful to have one without the other.

There are two very good reasons (in my opinion) that I would not bring Dumbledore back. Firstly, I think that after we had discovered all this murky stuff in his past through Rita Skeeter, it was better to just let it all rest. Secondly, I lost a little bit of something - respect maybe? - for Dumbledore when I saw how shamelessly and coldly he exploited Severus - as if he was any better! When he was not much younger than Severus he made just as many mistakes that led to deaths as well, and tried to make up for them just as hard as Severus did.

Though I did hate it that Fred died - well, we still have loads of other Weasley's, don't we? Don't get me wrong, I loved Fred, but still...

I wouldn't have brought Lily or James back, because once again James is not my favorite character, due to his treatment of Snape. And Lily - well, there are two reasons I wouldn't bring her back. One, then we wouldn't have a story, probably. And two, then Snape and James would both still be dead, and there doesn't seem much point in bringing Lily back without either of them.

Sirius - I don't know. I loved him, absolutely, cried when he died and all that, but - just the way that he acted all too often seemed to me like a petulant teenager. I guess I just feel that it was a big turning point for Harry, and it's just better if Sirius stayed where he was. As he said himself - "The ones that love us never really leave us."

I wouldn't bring Dobby back, and I guess the simple reason is that in the movie Deathly Hallows Part 1 (am I supposed to be making these judgement's because of the movie?)the way that his character was presented was very disappointing to me. I still cried, but there was something lacking.

Other people that died - Death Eaters, Regulus Black, Creevey, I don't know anyone else - basically, their deaths pale in significance next to those characters that I've already mentioned - not meaning to be cruel, but that is just what I think.

No, Snape it is for me. He definitely deserves to be liked and respected and thanked and apologized to by all those people who didn't trust him - if nothing else, he did not deserve to die in such a horrible way, after spending so much time looking after the son of his greatest enemy for the woman that he loved, trying to atone for mistakes that no-one ever forgave him for, even himself.

Sorry for the long dialogue, people. :)

Tom Bedford (dobbytom) | 1 comments Dobby he was my favourite by far, I remember reading the last one for the first time and I was sitting in the car sobbing! I was 8 at the time, but I'd bring back lupin or Tonks because Teddy shouldn't have been left.

message 33: by Meridith (new)

Meridith | 3 comments Tonks and Lupin because they had just had a baby Teddy and now he doesn't have any parents just like baby Harry. Oh well, Harry and Teddy's parents both died for a good cause.

I cried so much in that scene in the forest in Deathly Hallows, partly because of when Lupin says that he hopes that one day his son will understand why he died.

Me too, that scene just breaks my heart over and over!

message 36: by Danielle (new)

Danielle Howe Dobbys death had me sobbing uncontrollably, so i'd be very tempted to say him. But I think it would be better to say Fred, because George without Fred is completely heartbreaking!

message 37: by Nitzan (new)

Nitzan Schwarz (nitzanafterwords) Truthfully? I want most of the dead characters to be brought back to life.
Sirius was Harry's family, the only person he ever felt truly wanted with. I desperately wanted Harry to get a chance to develop more of a relationship with him, to grow more like a family. I do get why Rowling Killed him, though.
Lupin and Tonks deserve a chance at life. He had pretty much a miserable life, and then when he found a bit of happiness, a reason to live... he died. And their son will never know his parents.
Fred Weasley. OMG, I want him back, like NOW! Nothing will be the same without one of the Weasley twins. I can't imagine how Goerge will manage without him, and if I recall correctly, Rowling didn't tell us anything about his life in the epilogue.
Snape, of course, deserves a chance as well. The man was miserable, dealing with a love that was never his to have but always his to keep. It was heartbreaking to realize he was good, to realize he did deserve something better, that he was capable of emotions greater than most people, because he loved so fiercely and completely.
And then there is Albus. Dear ol' Albus... I don't think we never really got a chance to figure him out, and I would've liked it.

So... yeah, I want them all back. But I think FRED is my first choice because I want my twins back together! And I think his death was completely and utterly meaningless. I can give you reason behind all the other death, but his felt like it was just to show that even the heroes family cell can break... Anyway, I want him back T^T

Poor George. :(

But JKR has said in interviews that George works with Ron at Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes (before Ron goes on to be an auror) and ends up having a successful career. He marries Angelina Johnson and names his kids Fred and Roxanne. (See the family tree JKR drew here)

Really interesting point! I would have loved to see that too. But, all things considered, there are so many other characters that I would rather bring back. Unless, of course, Merope being alive meant that Voldemort did turn out OK, and that no-one had to die because of him...... very interesting thought.

message 50: by Gabby (new)

Gabby (gkj19) | 54 comments Hmm. Hard choice. I would choose Merope Gaunt. Voldemort would have a mother so he wouldn't become Voldemort. Just Tom Riddle. It would probably prevent all these deaths. Lily and James, Sirius, Remus, Tonks, Fred, Dumbledore, Snape, and all the others who died. The only problem is that Lily might marry Snape because he wouldn't be a Death Eater. But I would still choose Merope. James and Lily would get together no matter what.
