Challenge: DiscWorld!
This is going to be quite the quest if you choose to sign up for this. 39 books at present with somewhere in the range of 13,000 pages. And there's still I thank you personally Terry for making me laugh at mankind and society in general through your wit and satirical outlook on things.
Here are some Discworld links that might be of help during this quest.

I've thought about this series a few times over the last year or so. Still thinking about it.
I signed up. I'll probably never finish by the end of next year with my challenge list for next year though.
I'll try for the end of 2013, but that will be pushing it. 29 more books to go for me in the series might be a tricky one. After I sign up with the widget, when or how will it show up on my homepage?
It doesn't. I placed a link for my challenges in the first post of my challenge thread. I think, however, you might be able to get an actual widget to add to yours. Let me look around for a sec, and I'll see if I can find out how.
Nyssa wrote: "Would you like me to extend it? If so, how long should I make it?"Actually, could you open the range to be something like 2000 to 2020? As much as I enjoy Pratchett, I'm not going to re-read the titles I've already read in the past.
I don't know if it will let me go that far back, but I'll see what i can do.As for the widget, you can make custom widgets based on the groups your in, but I didn't see anything about individual challenges.
Heh! It looks like it took... So, the date is January 1st 2000 to December 31st 2020.Don't forget to make a challenge specific bookshelf and add your Discworld books to it, so that they show up.
Woohoo it worked. 10 down, 29 to go. Now I'm disappointed I just started a non-discworld book today. Oh well.
Homeinmyshoes wrote: "Okay, I forgot that there is a potential posthumous release of book number 40 for the series."Wow. That's...quite a lot.
It's going to take me some time to get going, I see.
I've got both Wyrd Sisters and Pyramids on order from the library so I'll be getting on with the challenge in short order.
Homeinmyshoes wrote: "This is going to be quite the quest if you choose to sign up for this. 39 books at present with somewhere in the range of 13,000 pages. And there's still a posthumously released title in the works...."I'm a little confused. Terry Pratchett hasn't died, has he? I'm sure I'd have seen that on the news...
I am interested in the challenge - I've read a lot of the Discworld books, but there are gaps. But right now I have a list of specific named books in my 2012 challenge that I need to get to first, and I'm not sure if 2013 isn't already full up...
^I was completely in error on that. I don't know why I believed that other than I had read something somewhere (probably a ludicrous Internet blog). I knew he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's a while ago and had assumed he had passed. My bad. I'll go fix that.
I've finally got started! (a lot more to go...)(2/40

40? Raising Taxes
Nice to see someone else take the plunge. I've got the book club selection plus Another Roadside Attraction to read prior to any more Pratchett. I'm thinking a September Pratchett fest might be in order though.

Library. Library. Library. I can get everything in paper format (stupid Kindle, stupid Overdrive, stupid Canada...I digress) except Moving Pictures for some reason from my library system. I love my e-reader, but budget is my first concern. So far this year: e-books 15; paper books 31.
I do need to use the library more often, lol. It's hard right now but I heard they are building one near my house soon. RIght now the closest library is 20 mins or more away.
From my house, I have three libraries within 4km, all on a single bus route. The best part is I just go to the Web site, request the books and then get an e-mail when it's time to pick them up from whatever location I want.

THey are putting one in walking distance...but who knows when it will open.
I do love the email function, though. :-D
I need some help here. Moving Pictures is now unavailable for Canadians from Amazon. A bigger problem is that Moving Pictures is not available at my libary either. Sigh.

I can buy it for you and gift it - no clue how that works, either.
Let me know

Problem solved. Birthday gift. :)
Thank you for the kind offer.
So where are all the Discworlders? I'm up to 15 now having finished off Moving Pictures. I'll be taking most of next year off for my new and improved reading challenge, I'll be back on the trail either late next year or early 2014 or fit in a few more this year.
Apparently Nyssa is 305% done this challenge. Way to go Nyssa. :)I finished one more with Eric. I think I should be at 17 complete now, but I've only got 15 showing. I'll have to see what I have failed to shelve properly.
I neglected to mention that your book challenge number is more than the total number of books I've read in the last four years. :)
Homeinmyshoes wrote: "I neglected to mention that your book challenge number is more than the total number of books I've read in the last four years. :)"lol!
That should be doable for me. But I'm broken or something right now... :-(
I just finished Small Gods. Which I think puts me at 18/39(soon to be 40), although it looks like I've got some misfiling in my GoodReads shevles that I'll have to fix at some point.
I finished Hogfather which puts me at 21 books read now. I've officially read more than half the series now.
And if anyone has been under a rock, Raising Steam has been released so the official number of books to read is now two score or forty for you moderns.Nyssa, you need to fix your book categorization issues as you've officially read 122 or more than 300% of the series right now. :)
^I read about four titles a year and probably none this year so it will take me at about five years to get to Raising Steam.
Listened to The Light Fantastic last month. Great book and funny. Still love Luggage.I totally loved Equal Rites which I finished earlier today. New story (no Rincewind). I also liked Cilia Embry as a reader. I hope she does more of these books. Great, easy to understand voice and characterization.
I'm only 60% behind, it says.
