I love, love, love LK's historicals, but I've read them all numerous times. Does anyone know whether she plans to write any more, or has she permanently switched to comtemporary?

I hope so. I think she's just following her muse. I have a feeling she'll feel inspired to write historicals again in the near future.
I was asking this same question. It's been over two years since she's written one. I really miss them. She always writes such great stories and characters! I wish she's give a little hint of whether she is or not!
After writing her 1st contemporary series, Travises, she went back to historicals. I think she likes to mix things up. In a year or so her last of the Friday Harbor series will be coming out and I wouldn't be surprised if she's back doing historicals. I think what determines what comes next will be what inspires her.
Lol Melody. I don't have any LK HRs left to read (and re-read all at least once) so just think about the poor shape I'm in. :(
I think it is up to the publisher, they follow what is in fad and will sell more. I love Julie Garwood historical books and believe she's better at them vs contemporary, but when fans asked why she stopped writing historical it was due to the publisher and I have a feeling Lisa Kleypas may have fell into that same trap. I sincerely hope not, while I enjoy her contemporary I am a huge historical fan and loved all her past books.

I've started "re-reading" them via audio.
I have listened to 2 on audio and enjoyed them so much! I am hoping that there will be a new hsitorical series soon, too!
I can't imagine Lisa not going back to historicals at some point, but that's just my opinion. And when old ones keep being re-released, well, if I were her, that alone would keep those historical fires burning. But who knows? Most all of us change over time. I'm on my 4th or 5th career, myself. I just hope she keeps on writing, period. Regardless the genre.
I REALLY hope she starts writing historicals again. I really like the contemporary books, but they're just not the same, you know? The good thing is I can keep myself happy for months just rereading her historicals.

I don't think she is done with her Friday Harbor series. Heard there may be another book after Crystal Cove. Anyone hear any confirmation about this?
I'm not really a contemporary romance fan and I admit that I haven't ready any of LK's contemporary books...but I LOVE her historicals... so I'm also wondering when she'll have another HR series... :P
I'd like her to get back to Historical Romances, as that is my sub-genre of choice, but I really would like Joe Travis' story. ☺

According to Fantastic Fiction there will be a 5th book in the Friday Harbor series called Lightening Bay due in September 2013.http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/k/l...
I haven't read any of her contemp. and I really hope that she gets back to historicals. My worry, like someone posted above, is that she'll be like Julie Garwood and never do historicals anymore.

Shannonreads, I say give her contemporaries a try. She has proven she can bring that same passion and beautiful storytelling to contemporary stories. I was very hesitant when I heard she was taking a break from historicals, but I am so glad I read Sugar Daddy and the rest of the Travises series.

Interesting, Carol. I see U.K. Amazon has it as a pre-order, but not the USA Amazon.
Saw this on Kleypas' Facebook page:
Dear Melissa, it's a little confusing because I spun the series off from a novella, "Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor." So the order of the full length books after that is: 1. Rainshadow Road . . . 2.Dream Lake . . . 3. Crystal Cove . . . and 4.Lightning Bay

Very unusual that it's not available to pre-order on USA Amazon and nothing is mentioned on her website either.
I hope that Lisa Kleypas writes historical romances again also. It was her historical romances that really got me into her books and I really enjoyed reading her Wallflower and Hathaway series! I will admit that I do enjoy some of her contemporary romance novels with the Travises being my favorite from her.

I wasn't really basing it on the 4th book being the final book (which, when I read the her message at her site, I linked it with that being the last one) but I read at her site that she had finished the last book of FH (which she didn't give the title of; hence, my immediate link to the 4th book). So I thought that maybe her next series will be historical. That was my hope.
Sorry for the confusion.
According to Eloisa Jame's facebook page, she quoted from Lisa Kleypa's page that Kleypas said she will be starting a new historical romance series for Avon and will continue with contemporary too. I'm so excited. I definitely can't wait for her new series, be it contemporary or historical.
Here's the link to General News thread, all the recent updates regarding the new series have been posted there:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
