Hello Sarah. I just checked out your Blemished trailer and find it very compelling.

I was wondering what got you interested in writing a series with such an interesting concept as genetic engineering? I follow the so called "singularity" movement pretty closely and GE is certainly high on its list as a coming attraction, so to speak.

It's something I've always had a bit of an interest with. I would say that it is probably the influence of writers such as Margaret Atwood and Scot Westerfeld that made me want to write a series.

I wanted to introduce the theme to a younger audience. I'm not familiar with the 'singularity' movement but it sounds compelling.

It's a term popularized by inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil and refers to the time in the near future (30-50 years or so) when technology, through AI and GE, and other advancements, reach, merge, and some fear, overcome, human-level of intelligence. Google (our new, more powerful external brain augmentation) can probably explain it better than I. :)
