Katie has the white gloves...I suppose Andre will have to supply the bubbly.Dakota SO owes me. Kench!
Kat, where does it say she's won? I didn't think the winners were announced until the Fair, 17th of August?
It showed up on Shelfari - and they were announcing Finalists, not the actual winners. I should be more rested when I post stuff.
Never mind, I've already opened the bubbly. I'll just have to drink it. Dakota is on autobahn, working off the frustration by bullying fat German burghers in their Mercedes with her SUV.
I'll have a sip of that bubbly, Andre! (good thing it's cyberbubbly, it is only just past 9 am here, kench). Any old excuse for a party. Feels as if we could use one :-)), and we all know Dakota is a winner!
Black velvet! It's a mix of stout (Guiinness) and champagne, and it doubles for breakfast. You have to drink only nine pints of it to get all your vittles for the day.
I'd have a Buddha belly after just one, grin. I'll stick to champagne, thanks, never did acquire a taste for beer. 7-Up or Ginger Ale for Kat...

I was born for this.

Pity the contest isn't decided yet...

I'm a responsible soccer mom, or I would be if Giselle were interested in soccer. I just drive a bit faster and smoother than the baumeisters in their Mercedes.

Kench!
K.A. wrote: "Only taken what - 14 years to be an 'overnight' sucess??"Fourteen years? It raises the question of when you become a writer. I think I became a writer when I threw out my early prentice efforts and started believing just a little that Andre was right, that I COULD stamp my authority and special knowledge on an entirely original series, something of my own. I know when that was: 1996. So, 14 years to become a modest "overnight success" is a pretty close guess.
In my own eyes I was a successful writer the moment Andre and Ferry declared the first book I actually finished in the series RUTHLESS TO WIN was the best I could do then. But there was no "overnight" about it. I sweated blood for years. Publication, critical approval, sales are just icing on a cake I've been baking since I was in high school.
That first finished book, TROUBLESHOOTER, is the one CoolMain is launching next.
Most of the best writers are born. Doesn't stop them sweating blood to acquire their craft. Talent and the necessary craft to give it expression are two different things altogether. Easily conflated, I grant you, but one is innate and one is learned.
Thanks, Jeremy. Unfortunately, I haven't won yet. The voting is still open: http://www.efestivalofwords.com/final...
