How to add a book link, which helps you find books – for example, your favorite library, bookstore, or free book site, such as Project Gutenberg, which offers over 40,000 free ebooks: choose among free epub books, free kindle books, download them or read them online.

◈ On your Profile Page, go into “(edit profile)” (Screen #1, red arrow).

     Screen #1

◈ On your Account page, click on “book links” (Screen #2, red arrow).

     Screen #2

◈ Under “book links” some links have already defaulted in. You can remove a link.

◈ By using the triangle up or down arrow, (Screen #3, yellow arrow) you can organize
them in any order you choose (such as alphabetical or most frequently used).

     Screen #3

◈ By scrolling through the list on the right, you can choose an existing link.
In this example, we are selecting “Chicago Public Library” (Screen #4, green arrow).
However, if you click on that link now, it will take you to CPL.

◈ Instead, click “add” (Screen #4, red arrow).

     Screen #4

Special Note: It looks like you can set this list by “alphabetical” or “popularity.”
However, I couldn't get the “alphabetical” function to work at first. Then I noticed
if I pulled in another country - such as AU {Australia} - then select “alphabetical,”
and then select US, it worked. (Screen #4a)

     Screen #4a

◈ After adding, your selection will appear at the bottom of your list. (Screen #5, green arrow).

     Screen #5

Screen #6 shows the list after CPL (green arrow) has been moved into alphabetical order.
Also added was Project Gutenberg (blue arrow).

     Screen #6

◈ Now, when you go to a book’s Home Page, you can click on “book links” and the menu
that drops down will show your added sites. (Screen #7: CPL = green arrow, Project Gutenberg =
blue arrow, “More...” = orange arrow.)

     Screen #7

Screen #8 shows the availability of the book on the CPL website.

     Screen #8

◈ If you suspect a book might be free, such as a classic, you can now easily check
the Project Gutenberg website if you have added it (Screen #9).

     Screen #9

Screen #10 shows the different formats available for your book at the Project Gutenberg website.

     Screen #10

Screen #11 shows the GRs “More... Screen.”

     Screen #11

◈ To add a new link, go back to your Profile and Account page and click “add a new link” (Screen #12, red arrow).

     Screen #12

Screen #13 shows you the Create a New Book Link page. Fill in appropriately.

     Screen #13

Smiley I'm "bumping" this one again, because - for all you library lovers - this is a good one to know about.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 21897 comments It might take you a bit of time to set up; however, if you are a big library user, it will save you a ton of time in the long run.

For OverDrive users, you might not be able to get directly to your OverDrive library; however, if you add your public library, you should be able to link to the book located in OD by clicking on the title or the eBook symbol.

If you do want to figure out how to add your library's OD link (the directions are a little different than what is on GRs instructions) go to Post #21 of the "Making it easier to create overdrive link" GRs Feedback thread.
