What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Hoping someone might know; late 90's early 2000 I read most of a book and wanted to get back to it. I remember one character had a time travel problem, he would just pop in and out. I remember he landed somewhere(another planet?) and found "red diamonds"? I believe someone was after him; a male character that had a sexuality problem, raised by his mother(grandmother?) never to touch his genitalia.

I believe that's a dean koontz book, he's just written so many books I need more time to figure out the title...bear with me:)
