Well, we have a few members now. I'm thinking around September or October to plan an event. We might have a book discussion at the library or do something online. I'm going to try to recruit some new people, but it's nice to see that we have some interest in our little group.

Hi Gayle! I was just visiting our Good Reads book club to see what we could do. Do we want to set up a meeting and advertise it in the newsletter?
I might want to wait one more month for meetings because of other things taking my attention and I want to get some advertising in the library that we have a goodreads book club and see if a few more members join. Lets mention in the newsletter that we have the club and say that we would like more members.
Hi there, glad to be a part. I believe in supporting our libraries, just came from a great meeting at Benbrook Public Library outside of Ft Worth, very informative. There are many authors in the NorthEast Texas that I did not know existed. Many are looking for book clubs to come and talk to, usually at no charge. Since Commerce houses the university and supports alot of creative endeavors, there should be alot of opportunities for this group and its growth.
I'm thinking of scheduling our first book club meeting at the library sometime between Oct. 15 and 19. I'm not sure which day or time of day would be best for all of you. Mondays and Fridays are the slowest work days for me, so either of those should be good. What time would you suggest? Morning? Afternoon?I'm trying to give those that signed up early a chance to help plan the meetings. After we figure a good time and day of the week, the rest of the meetings can follow that schedule, like second Monday or something.
As for the book to discuss, we generally don't keep more than one copy of most books, because of cost. I can get most books on my Kindle, so I shouldn't need to check one out. Given enough time, I can get extra copies through Interlibrary Loan.
What do you think of reading Philippa Gregory's The Kingmaker's Daughter as the first book. We have one copy at the library, but I can start trying to get more through ILL.
