That's great about your book, can you say what sort of thing it is?"

It has to do with a curse that runs down the bloodline of all sons born in one family because of a murder of a man's daughter. You'll see. I should b able to get it published by the beginning of next year. I'll tell you guys as soon as I do :)

Scott McCloskey | 50 comments Hello William!

Found this group while perusing good reads, nice place you all have here :)

Anyway, like many I am an aspiring new author. I write in many genre, but so far have been published for a horror shortstory at Horrorbound Online magazine, and my first published novel, "The Goldenwealth Light" -- a YA fantasy piece with a Neverending Story flavor that's currently available in paperback from Amazon or digital formats for kindle.

At any rate, thanks for creating this group. I hope I end up having something worthwhile to contribute.

www.ordonline.net (Shameless self-book promotion -- I just can't resist.)

Thanks Victoria for the welcome and the vote of confidence. I'm hoping to do a free kindle version promotion soon to hopefully drum up some interest. I hope it goes well!

❄️ Propertea Of Frostea ❄️ Bitter SnoBerry ❄ (berrynumey) Hi!! I'm Numey. Currently working on a fantasy tale... and poems. :)

message 21: by Ginny (new)

Ginny Atkinson (djinn) | 37 comments Hiya! I'm Djinn. I have two sci-fi fantasy romance books currently published. They are a bit on the simplistic side. :) But I like em. My third is currently at the editor and I have started on a fourth.

Words are awesome Brandon!

message 22: by Taylor (new)

Taylor I'm Timothy. I write fantasy for younger audiences and crime-focused fiction for older audiences. I've only been published twice in two vanity press ezines. Other than that, I'm trying to buckle down and finish a final draft of a middle-grade novel. I also do performance/spoken word/slam poetry, and my friends and I are self-publishing a book of our work.

message 23: by Scott (new)

Scott McCloskey | 50 comments Greetings all!

I have to agree, Brandon. Creating a work of literature is just as valid an artform as painting with a brush. You're simply painting with words instead. It really does feel more like a craft or a sculpture when you really start getting into refining a piece.

June Shaw (goodreadscomjuneshaw) | 1 comments Hi, y'all, I'm new here and from south Louisiana. I've sold a series of humorous mysteries and then my latest, a suspense called APPROACHING MENACE. I'd like to get it on Goodreads and want to give two Kindle copies to suspense readers who might read and review it fairly soon on Goodreads. Please let me know if you're interested.

One reviewer said, "If you like works by Mary Higgens Clark, this book's for you!" Another one said, "I highly recommend this spine-chilling tale!"

message 30: by Dara (new)

Dara Winston | 3 comments Hi everyone. I'm not actually a writer, but I'm an avid reader. I have so much respect for unknown authors and and I love seeing the creative process in action! I'm actually trying to help promote a new website for writers. The site needs authors to create works online in order to build content and get the site going. It's called BranchItUp, and it's a collaborative web application for writers, editors, proofreaders, illustrators, etc. Writers can create works online and then other enhance (or "branch up") the books. Very unique idea. The site is www.branchitup.com and there's a great demo video on the top right screen of the site. let me know what you think of it! of course it's an open community and totally free.

Dara Winston | 3 comments There was a Comcast glitch, but it's totally up and running now. Hope you can try it again and thanks for the support!

message 32: by Scott (new)

Scott McCloskey | 50 comments Hello June and Dara!

Looks like you've seen some pretty good success, June! Editorial reviews on Amazon would be a wonderful thing, heh.

Nice that we have some non-author readers here, Dara. It's good to have a different perspective.

Dara Winston | 3 comments Thanks for the welcome! You never know, I may try my hand at writing too...

message 34: by Karen (new)

Karen Klink (karenklink) Hi, I'm Karen. I've been writing short stories and two novels for nearly six years now, but haven't tried publishing anything yet. The novels each in their third drafts. I have entered a couple short story contests. I've had a subscription to "The Writer" magazine for five years and try to keep learning. An avid reader since the age of five or thereabouts, I had an English minor in college but never wrote fiction--only edited government reports, masters and doctoral theses and wrote some web articles for a gallery. I've been stuck for about three months now, not writing anything. Tried to turn my first novel into a YA novel, and I'm not sure it's working. Help!

message 35: by Karen (new)

Karen Klink (karenklink) Haven't done that yet. I've been trying to redraft the one novel and can't write anything worthwhile. I'll try your suggestion.

message 36: by Robert (new)

Robert | 14 comments Greetings colleagues,

Sort of newbie... I participated in Goodreads for a while, but in a fit of depression over a really crufty sales report I canceled all my subscriptions and memberships in all my writing forums. My wife convinced me that even if I don't sell much (anything) I enjoy writing so much that I should not give it up. So I am rebuilding and starting over. It's a lot of work.

For new writers, I would be willing to "beta read" some of your work depending on the genre. Give me a holler if you think I might be interested.

message 37: by Jen (new)

Jen (squall88uk) | 5 comments Hey all.

I'm Jon and i'm currently attempting to write my first book which is a traditional YA/adult crossover fantasy. The name i have for it at the moment is "Tales of Acheron". I can't decide whether to have that as a title for the individual book or for the series (the story is way to long to fit in one book so it'll definitely be a series).

Of course all of the above is assuming that i ever actually finish it lol. I also have an idea thats forming for an adult urban fantasy but thats a pipe dream atm.

Anyways, glad to be here and i hope to be able to bounce ideas of you all and get advice if/when i need it.

Jen (squall88uk) | 5 comments Keshena wrote: "Hello and welcome, Jonathan! You should post something in the "post an excerpt" thread so we can all see what you do."

Thanks
