Getting to Know You - Your Favorite Author


This challenge is original to SCC!

Duration: 1 month from start date

I plan on making this a regular monthly challenge where each month we will learn one new thing about each other.

For this first month, let's tell everyone who our favorite author is. If you don't have only one favorite just pick one and feel free to tell us the others also.

Spell out the author's name using book titles or author first/last names.

You may choose to spell the author's first name, last name or both.

All general challenge guidelines apply.

You will get some major brownie points if you use the author's books to spell their name but it's not required.

Welcome SP! It seems like Lisa Kleypas a favorite of a lot of people. I see her name around all over the place.

The book that got me hooked was Me Before You, in September she is releasing a book called The Girl You Left Behind which I am hoping will be a sequel.

I also love Emily Giffin! I haven't read her latest yet but it's on my TBR.

Same here. I'm hoping to grab it from the library at some point. With it being new though it might be a little bit, haha.

Sara - I read 2-3 a week and my family thinks I'm nuts. I don't think they would believe me if I told them someone I know reads 6-7 books a week! lol No one else in my family (except the kids) really reads.

Ashley - I'm so glad I have an e-reader! The paper copy is usually on hold forever when a new book comes out. There's usually not quite as long a wait for the ebook version.

Ahhh...why not (I seem to be saying that a LOT lately, lol)...I'm going to go with Jodi Picoult, though not sure I can finish it in a month!

I read Lone Wolf as soon as it came out...a good, solid 4-star read from me (she hovers between 4 and 5 for me, generally). I've got the other book that she wrote with her daughter on my TBR, though...I'm always wary when authors collaborate...

I've heard very mixed reviews about the one she wrote with her daughter.

I've heard that it's much more of a YA book than one would think based on the marketing. One of my co-workers read it as soon as it came out, and she said it's very obvious that the daughter did most of the writing, and 'Mom' only helped a bit here and there.

I wouldn't worry too much about when you finish. The challenge isn't going anywhere.

I'm surprised that everyone has decided to spell out the entire name, though! You can do only first or last if you want.

Well, then ... I'll be switching to just his last name ... hate looking for 'W's'. :-) I'll edit the above post if that's ok ... really need to read the basic rules better.

I would only eliminate two letters, since "my" author goes by initials rather than a first name. And I've already read one of those two initials LOL
