Leilani awoke slowly, the tips of her feet just submerged into the water. She looked up squinting at the sun. One minute her father had been approaching her, his belt in his hand to finish off a good beating. And the next she was here. She began to panic. Not out of fear of losing anybody, more, because she thought she was alone. She sat up quickly, undoing the buttons on her jean t-shirt to reveal a white tank top underneath. She wiped her forhead and looked at her hand, seeing a little bit of red. She shrugged, wiping her head again to remove the rest of the blood. SHe realised that she had 2 hair ties on her wrist and quickly pulled her hair back into a bun, seeing as it was so hot. "Hello!!?!" she called out, doubting she would get a reply.
She tied her top around her waist, seeing as it would be a nusiance to carry. She walked across the stoney shoreline. It was a beautiful place, she thought absentmindly. And had saved her from her fathers belt. So it couldnt be to bad. She stopped at the jungles edge, not really knowing what to expect inside. "Hello?!" she shouted again halfheartedly
Leigh gave up and sat next to the water. It finally set in now. She would never see Ireland again. Never see Dublin, never see the rolling fields of green or the busy city life. Never see her friends again, the few she did have. She placed her head in her hands, panic and shock finally setting in.
Derek came running out of the trees when he heard screeming. He saw a girl sitting by the waters edge like the whole world was fine and dandy. "Eh girly" he called. "What was with all the screemin'? You nearly gave me a heart attack." He walked over to her.
Leigh shifted herself around. It was another person, she wasn't alone. Hope bloomed inside of her, maybe there were others. She stood up, quickly. "I wasn't screaming, I was yelling to see if anybody was here" she said, her thick irsh accent showing through.
"What's your name?" she asked, curiosity setting in.
"Derek" he said simply. "Yours?" To be honest, he was just as happy to see another person in this jungle. He held out a hand to shake.
"Leilani, but just call me Leigh" she shook his hand, her tattoo visible as she did so. Relief was clear on her face. She sighed. "I'm from Ireland if you didn't already guess. And your from.. America?"
She asked. She had never been outside of Dublin, so she hadn't really heard much about other countries, seeing as her father barely let her leave the house, let alone the city or even the country.
"Yeah, im from New York." He caught the tattoo that she had but decided not to comment on it. It wasnt what was important at the moment."So girly," he decided that he was going to call her that from now on, since he had a thing for nicknames and not calling people by their real names. "Quick question. Do you remember how you got here? Because i sure as hell dont. I dont even know where here is."
"Oh..Well.. I can remember what was happening before I got here, but i don't really want to discuss that at all." She replied, reddening slightly. The recent wounds her father had made were still raw, but she was used to the pain by now. She suspected a few cracked ribs, heavy brushing and a few cuts. Not as bad as usual because he hadn't gotten the chance to use the belt.
He held up his hands. "Alrighty then. Thats your business. But we really should try and find some other people. If there are any." He reached into his pocket and took out a mango he found in a tree.((Sure hope they grow in trees or that embarasing :P)) "Here, you better eat up, get some energy," he offered her the fruit.
"Oh, um thanks, don't you wasn't some? She asked leading the way into the jungle. She pushed the vines put of the way, she didn't want to get tangled in them. Leigh broke the mango in half easily, having inherited her mothers strength. She offered a piece to Derek.
He shook his head. "Naw, i already had some." He continued to follow her for a bit longer, then he had to ask. "Do you know where your going?"
"Not really, but I'd you we're to lead I bet you wouldn't know where you were going either." she replied shortly continuing to walk whilst taking her first bite of a mango. The tast was sweet and pleasent as she took another bite, continuing to walk on.
"That is very true. But i beleive i have a better sense of direction than you. So if you would just let me lead, i'll get us somwhere safe, ok girly?" He was only joking, sorta. He didnt really like being lead by a girl, but might aswell have some fun with it.
She stopped her eyes now cold and unhappy."I suggest that you don't call me girly again. My name is Leigh or Leilani, nothing else, and if you have a better sense of direction then off you go." she replied bitterly.
She stormed ahead throwing the fruit on the ground.
"Yea, well..." She sighed and say down on a large tree root. She was missing her father. Despite all the things he had done to her and she was missing him. She was angry at herself. Why couldn't she hate him like any normal person would.
"My father.. He.."
She trailed off considering weather she should tell him or not. Her ribs were giving her breathing problems and her body ached all over. Her father always made sure that he hurt parts of her body that would usually be covered by clothing.
Derek, despite the warnings going off in his head, sat down beside her. He didnt speak, deciding to let her go on if she wanted to. He wouldnt know what to say even if he had no other choice. This whole thing was not somthing he was familure with.((Ya sorry, im still here))
She began again."Before I came here, my father...he was.. He was in the middle of beating me" the last part came put quickly, like ripping off a plaster.
"He used to beat me every 2 days, he would start with his fists and end with his belt, then he would go back to drinking solid for another day. I think currently I have a few cracked ribs, and I dot know the last time when my body hasnt been a blueish colour, due to the bruising, I have quiet a lot of scars and some unhealed wounds and I've been hospitalised 3 times. Once he broke my collarbone, another I got a punctured lung, and then I got broken fingers." she sighed quietly, tears beginning to form in her eyes. She had never told anybody this, yet here she was, confessing to a boy she barely knew.
She pulled up her top so her stomach was showing, cuts and bruises covered it, along with unhealed injures and scars. The tears began to fall then, she hated her body
((What the bruises look like on. her stomach, ignore the guy, just the bruising))

Derek was so shocked he couldnt put it into words. For one, why would she even be telling him this? She obviously didnt like him and they just met. This isnt somthing that you tell a stranger, but he wasnt sorry that she told him. It actually made him like her more."Im am really sorry. But its ok now. I dont see your father anywhere and... i wont let him touch you if he magicly apears." He didnt mean to add that last part, but it just felt right to say. This whole conversation was really awkward for him, but he was trying.
"But do you know what the worst thing is? I miss him. After all that i still miss him" He voice turned angry then, as a sob rose in her throat and she struggled to keep it in. She sat on the floor, head on her hands just as she had been a while ago. It hurt her to cry, what with cracked ribs, so this caused her to cry out of pain as well. It was a vicious, never ending circle.
Jennifer walked to the waterfall and rolled her pants legs up getting into the water slowly. She rather felt going here then going to the beach. She overheard people talking. A guy and a girl and shrugged it off. She sighed in relief from the water. She looked around maybe thinking she wouldn't be left alone but seemed no one would want to talk to her. She was used to it but was fed up of getting used to it.
Derek had no idea what to do next. He realised that the brusing and broken bones must not be good so he decided to go off that. "Umm, maybe we should find someone to fix the bones. im sure we cant be the only two here. Someone bust know how to help. Heck, maybe they have Advil." Derek could only pray that they ahd some. He was starting to get a masive head ache.
Pull yourself together Leigh, your never usually this emotional. She thought in her head, within seconds her crying stopped, as if she handent been crying at all."What's Advil?" she asked curiously, she had never heard of such a thing, he supposed it was a pain medication, but she asked all the same. She looked at him closely for the first time, realising he was quite handsome. And ere she was a mess on the floor. She rubbed her eyes and nose, as if to vanquish any signs that she had been upset at all.
((I'm guessing Advil is pain medication, I've never actually hear of it before :3))
((You have never heard of Advil??? Really? lol where are you from?? And yes, its like head ache medicine. Very common. How do you not know what that is?? lol))"Its just medicine to help make people feel better. But my guess is there isnt any the grow on trees on the jungle." He stood up and offered her a hand. "Come on, lets go find some other people."
((I'm from England, it's probably just the equivilant to paracetamol in our country, or something like that :3))She took his hand and wrapped her own small one around it, getting to her feet. She didn't let go as they trailed through the forest. It felt nice, she thought, to hold a boys hand. With her fathers regular beatings she had always been to scared to get into any kind of relationship, although she had gotten offers. She breathed put a sigh of relief as they got to the the outskirts of the forest, overlooking the beach.
Secress woke up and muttered, "Where the heck am I?"

This is the only source of fresh water close to the beach. It is a small waterfall falling down the cliff of one of the mountains.
