Bookworm | 62 comments Anyone read any good books about mythology lately? One book I've read is Destined by Jessie Harrell. Its a retelling of the Cupid and Psyche myth.

thanks!! :)

message 8: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm | 62 comments How about Abandon? I haven't read it, but if you like Persephone and Hades, you can check it out.

message 9: by Cassi (new)

Cassi | 16 comments Do you mean the one by Meg Cabot? If that's the one, I have it at home, but I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet.

Jolie Suarez | 86 comments Mod
cool. :) i love the story of Hades and Persephone! I'll check it out!

message 11: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm | 62 comments Yeah, the one by Meg Cabot. I think Everneath and The Goddess Test are about Persephone and Hades too.

message 12: by Jolie (new)

Jolie Suarez | 86 comments Mod
that is really cool.

message 13: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm | 62 comments What is?

message 14: by Jolie (new)

Jolie Suarez | 86 comments Mod
that there are some really cool books about mythology.

message 15: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm | 62 comments Yup, tons of authors have been writing them.

message 16: by Morgan (new)

Morgan Bertolino (atlantismagicsociety) Hmmm, I read the first book in the Kronus Chronicles. I can't remember what it was called but it was interesting. Need also has a bit of Norse mythology in it.

message 18: by Emilie (new)

Emilie | 1 comments I like Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs. its about the gorgon sisters, kind of a modern interpretation.

message 19: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm | 62 comments Yeah, I've heard about that book. Triplet monster hunters that are descended from gorgons? What about Oh. My. Gods.? Its by the same author. Basically, its about cliques in a school for demigods. Its too girly for my tastes, though.

OH MY GODS is on my to-reads list! i really wanna read it!

message 21: by Cassi (new)

Cassi | 16 comments I read Oh My Gods and really enjoyed it. I just have to say that the second novel in the series isn't quite as compelling...

message 22: by Jolie (new)

Jolie Suarez | 86 comments Mod
oh. could you tell me the plot of the story?

message 23: by Cassi (new)

Cassi | 16 comments This girl's mom suddenly marries this guy and moves to either Greece or an island (I can't remember...) but the guy runs a school. The girl starts going to the school and finds out that it is attended by demigods.

message 24: by Jolie (new)

Jolie Suarez | 86 comments Mod
that sounds really cool. does her step dad know that the students are demi-gods?

message 25: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm | 62 comments I think the girl is a demigod or at least has strains of godly blood herself.

message 26: by Jolie (new)

Jolie Suarez | 86 comments Mod
oh

message 27: by Cassi (new)

Cassi | 16 comments yeah but thats a surprise!!!!

Bookworm | 62 comments Yeah, didn't know Need had mythology in it. Cool.
If you want something fluffy, you can read the Goddess Girls series Very tweeny, but it seems cute. It starts with.Athena the Brain or at least I think it does.

Sorry! Didn't know that was a spoiler. It was in the description for the second book.

message 40: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm | 62 comments Sweet Venom is free on amazon kindle right now!!! Oh, and I've just read Wake. Its not actually about Greek myth, but it is mentioned by the sirens (cursed handmaidens of Persephone) that the gods are dead. And plus, sirens are from myth.

message 41: by Cassi (new)

Cassi | 16 comments Oh! I have Sweet Venom. It was pretty good, but for some reason I just wasn't into it. However, the ending was pretty awesome...

message 42: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm | 62 comments Okay. I got it and will read it someday.

Thank you everybody, for being so friendly in this group. :)
It seems to me as if we are a nice, big, open family, that is not yet finished. :)

message 44: by Cassi (new)

Cassi | 16 comments Awwwww. Thanks!

Jolie Suarez | 86 comments Mod
no problem cuz it's true.

message 46: by Karen (new)

Karen (karenhooper) | 7 comments Destined by Jessie Harrell is awesome. And I feel bad self-promoting, but my novel, Tangled Tides (The Sea Monster Memoirs, #1) by Karen Amanda Hooper has some background mythology based on a very different version of Medusa and Poseidon. No pressure though! Just an FYI. :)

message 47: by Jolie (new)

Jolie Suarez | 86 comments Mod
that sounds awesome! i love mythology and medusa is one of my favorites. i know you didn't mean it like that. congratulations!

message 48: by Bookworm (new)

Bookworm | 62 comments Wait a minute. You wrote a book? I'm talking to a writer?

message 49: by Karen (new)

Karen (karenhooper) | 7 comments Thanks Jolie! Medusa is one of my favs too. :)

Bookworm, yup, I'm a writer. Actually, I've got two books out, and working on the sequels. But reading was my first love. ;)

Bookworm: I know, isn't it exciting that we can do that? :)
