LOL two years is a long time to be upset.
But I can understand why else do you think I'm so picky. Luckily I've never had that happen to me, the H or h dying off, I imagine I'd be sucker-punched and then crying buckets. has a Notebook type ending and I don't even have to read it, I just have to think of it and in a few seconds I'm bawling my eyes out:)!
But I'll make a note to stay away from that book you mentioned!

I think that will be okay if he truly grovels and h doesn't let him off the hook too easily lol. One more thing I can't have a H or h die (but that really goes with the HEA aspect of a story) I read a book (When it Rains by Lisa Dejong) had no idea the H dies OMG, two years later I am still trying to get over it! There was nothing in the reviews about it. I was equal parts pissed and upset. I'm getting worked over it again just talking about it lol.

Cheating is a trigger for me as well, but there are cases - eg:drunken one time mistakes- where I can over look them.

Also you might want to know this about , the book I recced to you, the other one is completely safe.

H is falling for h and gets upset when h goes out for dinner with the ex FWB and her friend; H sees her all dolled up and assumes the worst, that h and ex are back together.
He goes out to the local bar, gets drunk and makes out (view spoiler)[Its mostly a kiss plus rubbing her thighs and the sides of her body when she climbs on to his lap in a bar (hide spoiler)] with his ex( evil OW and h's archenemy) but isn't able to continue so he walks away. The next day H finds out the the h and her ex FWB truly aren't back together so he really has to grovel to the h who is hurt.
She finds out when her roommate shows her the video on her phone of H/OW making out. H was the blue-collar, alpha male, growly, dirty-talking, sexually insatiable type and he was really lost for h, so I got over the faux pas (hide spoiler)]

MC books makes my stomach hurt, its not that I won't read them its that I can't - they're just detrimental to my health!

Cheating is a big no-no for me. I will stop reading if that happens I don't care what the circumstances are. And I think kissing is cheating.

Hate love triangles. I want my H and h devoted to only each other. If they don't get that, they are not in love.

Must have a HEA (okay if reading a 2 or 3 part that will have one at it's end).

Those are the biggies. As you can see from my shelves I don't read a lot of MC books for the reasons stated above (just can't take the chance one of those things will slip in)

Yep recommends from friends are the best cos you can ask then for spoilers and other stuff and you do get an idea of their taste too.
So what would you say are your to-be-avoided triggers, things that make your stomach hurt or just upset while coming across them in a romance?

Well, I surely don't mind. I understand what you are saying, and I too, have certain boundaries when it come to the books I like. And I honestly get VERY upset, when I'm reading a book and one of those boundaries gets crossed. I read blurbs and reviews carefully, so I know what I'm walking into, but even still sometimes that fails. That's why I like recommends from friends (I can ask questions that way lol)

Well, I'm a picky reader what can I say, don't like misogynistic stuff and am kinda sensitive to the power equations between H/h, which sets off all sorts of alarms for me in romances. I've just learnt to navigate and avoid what sets me off, so i'm not apologising for that.
However I don't think I'm an arrogant reader and a well written book always has a place in my bookshelves, and from what I heard Alluring is well reviewed so I'll be giving it a try if you don't mind;)
