Yes you can definite choose your own books to read.
I wrote you a comment a few minutes ago, advising you to make the reading of "The Deputy", by Rolf Hochhuth, a priority because it is excellent. (I read it 35 years ago.) The comment appeared below your entry on my RECENT UPDATES, and then, when I just went back to my my RECENT UPDATES, it was gone. Did I do something wrong, or is there something wrong with the Goodreads website? It makes no sense to spend time writing comments if they disappear
