Monica, it's great to hear from you! Yes, we're still friends --Goodreads hasn't booted you out of my circle, and I certainly wouldn't delete you because of your responses to troll comments. (I've dealt with my share of those, too.)Being an academic librarian, I know how busy a college instructor's life is, and I can relate to having scanty free time! Yes, Barb and I are well and doing alright (and hopefully still sane! :-) ), and hope you are too. Our second Aussie granddaughter, Willow Barbara, was born on Oct. 19; both mother and baby are doing well, and we're very thankful.
You're often in my thoughts and prayers. Wishing you all the best, and hope you have a wonderful Christmas season (if you celebrate it)!
Popping by to say hi and to make sure we're still in touch. Apparently, GR is knocking friends off of folks' profiles. It isn't unlike me to lose friends because of my antics on GR (I am very, very, very, very nasty to trolls on my reviews and Q and As and have a controversial review up that tends to alienate people), but I wanted to make sure we stay in touch.
Also, I hope you're keeping safe and sane during these increasingly nutty times.
I've been working my head off (haven't had a free moment since I got hired this Summer) and so haven't been around here much, but I hope that you, Barb and family are doing alright.
I'd like to thank you both again for your support this past Spring, and I want you to know that I think of you often.
Have a good one.
Best,
MC
Stephanie wrote: "Thanks, Werner!😃"Thank you for the friend invitation, Stephanie! And thanks for the book recommendations, and the likes on several of my reviews. I'm looking forward to checking out your reviews soon, as well!
You're welcome, Roger! If you read them, I hope you like them as much as I did. I'll be interested in your reviews!
Werner,I saw that you rate the Jade del Cameron mysteries 5 stars. Not my normal cup of tea, but they have an unusual appeal to me. I added them to my public library "action-heroine" short list. Thanks for the tip!
Roger
Hello Werner! Good thing I made pages of notes on my Stephen King book. Someone borrowed it! Really must review his book On Writing. Thank you for liking my latest review of Bigfoot Island by Eve Paludan. I enjoyed reading it.
Happy reading,
Charlotte
Hello Werner! Read Stephen King's book ON WRITING and thought it a classic classroom, of sorts. Enjoyed 'spending time with him.' Must do the review of it... am behind on a couple of books I've read. So glad you liked my review of L.A. Late @ Night: 5-Noir & Mystery Tales...Best to you,
Charlotte
You're welcome, Alice! Reading (and writing) reviews is one of my favorite things to do on Goodreads, so I always like an intelligent and well-written review. And I was honored by your invitation!
Hi Werner,Thanks for accepting my friend request! I would also like to thank you for the likes of my book reviews.
Glad you liked my last two book reviews, Werner: Know When To Run and Bootcamp for Novelists BEYOND THE FIRST DRAFT: Writing Techniques of the Pros. Now, reading ON WRITING by Stephen King! Taking notes as usual! However, I am studying ~ then back to Writing Techniques of the Pros.
You're welcome, Charlotte! Yes, I think reading widely is one of the best things you can do to grow as a writer (besides all of its other benefits!).
Thank you SO much for the LIKE of my latest REVIEW ~ Mark Matthews: THE PROTECTOR: Book One of The Outerworld Key.Am in awe of authors, like you, who read many books as a child. Now I can understand what I missed and how reading improves 'storytelling'... and I am filling the gap.
You're welcome, Charlotte; keep up the good work!I'm not nearly as widely read as I'd like to be! A lot of the variety on my "read" shelf comes from my childhood, when I'd read just about any book that came to hand. (And I'd have listed a lot more of them if I could remember the author/title information; back then, I regrettably didn't pay as much attention to that kind of thing as I now wish I had. :-( )
Werner... amazed at the variety of books you have read.Thank you for 'Like' of my recent review.
Best,
Charlotte
Werner, hello. Glad you liked my review of 'Paris in Love' by Eloisa James. It appears that I was the only reviewer of her book at Amazon. It's time I begin to devote some time to writing that novel and 2014 looks promising so am starting to make plans.
Best wishes to you in your work and Happy New Year. You're quite the reader. Your reviews are thorough... wow.
Pleased to find you've liked my recent review, Werner. Catching-up on book reviews. Writers seem to create stories faster than I can read them. My muse is, hopefully, picking-up story writing along the way. Happy Reading + Writing!

I hope to encourage people in the worthy pursuit of attending college.
Hope you enjoy the Fraser book. One day I'll have to reread and review it.
Best wishes for success with your book, Charlotte! I have a couple of master's degrees myself, so I can see how useful a book like this could be to people who are considering or starting such a program. The library where I work has that particular Fraser book, if I'm not mistaken, along with several others by her. Thanks for the tip!
Werner... Appreciate your stopping by and that you like my book review for Journey To The M.A. Degree. Hope to do a better job of promoting to appropriate audience. Not sure if I mentioned how much I enjoyed MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS by [Lady] Antonia Fraser. Some years ago, my daughter found it in Canada and gave me a perfect gift of it. You might enjoy.
Happy reading + writing,
Charlotte
Happy you liked my review of FINDING JESSIE by Eve Paludan, Werner. It's amazing the variety of genres she has added.Eve writes about a trained vampire hunter in her latest ebook, AFTERGLOW (Brotherhood of the Blade) that might interest you. Link: http://tinyurl.com/jwd7un4
Dolors, thanks for your interest! (I haven't had a chance to look over your shelves much yet, but I've checked out a few of your excellent reviews.) Yes, I do read speculative fiction more than the "mundane" or descriptive variety; and I see that a number of my friends have given The Name of the Wind five star ratings. My to-read shelf is already pretty full (over 300 books!), but I'll add this one to it, on your recommendation. Thanks!
Hi Werner!I've been taking a look at your bookshelves (wow, impressive!) and I haven't been able to locate "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss, and that strikes me as weird seeing you have read a lot of sci-fi & fantasy books!
In any case, I think you might enjoy it!
See you around!
You're welcome, Tish, and thanks for inviting me! If you're a fellow follower of Jesus, we'd love to have you join us in the Christian Goodreaders group.
Thanks for accepting my 'friendvite', Werner. I was looking at some of your groups, especially the Christian Goodreaders, as I would like to find more good Christian fiction, particularly fantasy and historical fiction.
Hello Werner...So glad you liked my review of EUROPEAN TRAIN TRAVEL TIPS by Mona MacDonald Tippins. She is the same Mona who set out alone to break the Guinness World Record in TOMORROW THE TRAIN (c)2010. Best wishes for a successful 2013!

You're welcome, Callista; I try to keep up with my friend's reviews, and I enjoy reading them! Yes, all's well with me, and I hope it is with you and yours, too.
Hi, Werner. Thanks for reading my reviews. I haven't forgotten about you; I just have felt more like reading lately than participating in the group. I hope all is well with you!
