I’ve heard positive things about this book, but I was shocked to see how beautiful it is. This story is a tragedy, but it didn’t feel like that. It felt like Patroclus’ love song to Achilles and my heart ached at the end. Achilles, Patroclus, and Thetis we’re the most interesting characters. How Patroclus and Thetis hated each other so much even though their bond could’ve been how they truly loved Achilles. Achilles adorned by everyone, but the only thing he wanted was to stay together with Patroclus. The final chapter broke me when Patroclus’s spirit was talking to Thetis and realizing that the whole story is from this very moment where Achilles was more than the men he killed and that he was the person that they wholeheartedly loved. I tried to not let my tears fall on the book because I was borrowing from my cousin lol....more
