I was so intimidated by the length of this book and by the sheer volume of history contained within it that was never taught to me in school. This is a must read for White Americans, and I can happily assuage your fears by letting you know that over 50% of the book’s length comes from citations and footnotes. Any time Black folks in this country struggled for success there was a political and precise backlash, and this text unequivocally proves that as historical fact.
