I can say that I resonate with Lysa and am greatly encouraged by how she sees God in the most mundane things happening in her life. I agree when she said, "when we are willing to embark on a life that requires faith, we are more aware of God and his ability to provide for us in every detail of our lives".

Although there may have been some inconsistencies with some of Lysa’s statements. For example when she said, "a life that requires very little faith is not a life the God will use" which contradicts to what Jesus said in Luke 17:6, “If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea’; and it would obey you..." Biblically, it is not the quantity of our faith that matters for God to use us because it is God who does the work regardless of the size of our faith. Another inconsistency is when she said “faith is learned through life”. This statement is quite misleading because it may also imply that it is life that teaches us faith and not God. Biblically, Faith comes as we hear God’s word (Romans 10:17) and that it isn’t something we earn because it is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8). However, her statement would have been correct had she said that “faith is strengthened through the circumstances God allows” which is then elaborated in her next statement “through the messy and unpredictable everyday events that often stumble us, we become more aware of our desperate need of God”.

Nevertheless when viewed in its entirety, Lysa’s emphasis has been that when a woman walks in faith there is an extraordinary experience of God and that there will be a deepening of intimacy and dependence on Him. Through the circumstances that God allows, we gain "rich perspectives, beautiful growth, and stronger faith".

Overall, it was a good read. I would still look back at the highlighted portions that I made on the book for moments when I need encouragement. However, since this book needs to be read with caution, I would only recommend it to women who are discerning and are able to filter which are not and which are principles that are aligned to the character of God and the entirety of His Word. ...more "
