"So far in my book i've read about this by who doesn't have a name yet, but anyway his mom is very abusive one way is by starving her son till he completes his chores. Also if she sees him slacking she will him him. "right now the author is describing what the orphan school was like back in the late 1800s to early 1900s. The book goes to describe the orphanage like a prison and compare it to a prison such as the whole area is fenced off and there are many strict rules that if not followed get you punished.
