Now, I love Cassian, but you might ask: why not Nesta? Well, to me, that’s what’ I WAS ROOTING FOR THEM! I loved seeing Cassian getting his happy ending! And I truly learned to master my smut face (for a novice, that was brave of me, let me tell you).

Now, I love Cassian, but you might ask: why not Nesta? Well, to me, that’s what’s scary about this book: I still don’t like Nesta. This book just showed me how a petty bitch I can be, and how I can't forget the bad things people do. However, I found myself understanding Nesta, rooting for her and her sisters (whichever you’re thinking, by the way), and wishing her a happy ending. And, most of all, in understanding her, I empathized with her, and I could see myself in her. And that was the scariest thing. So yeah, now I don’t know if I don't like her because of my self-loathing or just because I think she’s a bad person (or was).

Anyway, besides the romance, I admired the way Sarah J. Maas switched her writing to a third-person point of view. I was afraid I was going to be disconnected from the characters, but, in the end? It didn’t make a difference, to be honest. Actually, this might be the book where I felt the most emotions, overall.

I also LOVED seeing Nesta linking with the House. And learning more about Gwyn and Emeriee and seeing how she too could connect with people, (view spoiler). They accepted their friendship and all of them, the good and the bad. I was so fond of seeing them work and just being together! (view spoiler)

Lastly, the final chunk of the book, as in a Maas’ true tradition, was my favorite. All the action and things going on (view spoiler), it felt like the book built up to that, and it was really satisfying!

However, Nesta was my major con as I could not see or grasp her reasoning most of the time, at least in the first half.

And, call me a hypocrite, but I enjoyed the smut, however, to me, it felt dragged and like it was just there to be fan service to the readers… I said what I said. The book could be a little shorter without so much sex, that, mind you, brought little to the plot. But maybe that’s just me being too modest.
