With this fear Rachel opens her own investigation and the police believe she has gotten herself into grave danger.
Rachel Watson is an annoying, and at times, an unreliable character. In her own perspective, she is a divorcée, deeply depressed over her and a failed marriage. She longs for what she believes to be a happy family life, desperate to matter to others and be helpful.
Megan Hipwellshe is cheating on her husband Scott with Tom, Rachel’s ex husband, mirroring the way Anna and Tom cheated on Rachel. When she finds out that she is pregnant, she is finally willing to leave everything and everyone behind and come clean with the men in her life, and move on for her unborn child. Then she ends up missing , probably dead.
Anna watson is Tom's new wife. She hates Rachel and gets annoyed when Tom talks to or about her. Anna is very happy with her life with Tom and their baby girl. She especially liked being the "other woman" when Tom and Rachel were still married.
The conflict of the story is that Megan is now missing and pregnant.Not to mention the fact that almost everyone thinks she was murdered.
Frankly I thought the book was ok. It could be confusing at times and others they didn't elaborate on anything and those parts just had to simple of writing. Sometimes they would jump from one subject to another without connecting them. However I do like the plot of the story and i think the style of writing was done very well.
I feel like any kind of person would enjoy this book because the author managed to create a book that combined a murder mystery with intense drama and a thriller. I feel like any young adult as well as adult would like this book and I highly recommend it to that type of audience.I decided to read it because I enjoy reading thrillers and murder mysteries so when i came acros this book it felt like the best option. ...more "

It is a true story and tells about how the author went through terrible things while living the life of a jew in hiding.Leon Leyson is like any other young boy in 1930s Poland. When Leon is 8, his family moves to Krakow and a few years pass and news of the Germans forcing Jews from their country reaches them. Within a year jews are no longer allowed to attend school, all Jewish people must wear Star of David armbands, and thousands of them are forced to leave Krakow. Leon's father is luckily protected because he is employed by a german company. After being kicked out of their home in Krakow they were forced to relocate to a sketchy part of town where they then battle the nazis and the people around them. Nowhere is safe to be without getting shot at or taken away. Every Night the nazis would lock the jews in their houses every night and wouldn't let them out until a specific time in the morning. Every day more and more human rights are taken away from the jews as they are forced further and further from humanity.Leon's father works at the factory daily desperately trying to provide for his family and soon his family, like many others, joins him at his work. Leon ,being so small, has to stand on a wooden box in order to reach the machinery.
The mother in the book is portrayed as a helpless woman who is trying to stay strong and look brave in front of her kids. Leon describes in the story how he would wake up in the middle of the night to his mother weeping and being unable to cope with the fact that their life is falling apart.
His father tries his best to provide for his family. At the beginning of the book he gets taken away for a few months because he was out of a job and that makes him susceptible to being taken away by nazis. He returns months later and is providing for his family by working at a german company giving his family safety and security from the nazis.
Leon is the main character of the book. When this book is taking place he is 10-15 and he started to provide for his poor family so they wouldn't get found out and taken away like his older brother. He struggles to protect his mother, sister and brothers while his father goes off to work every day until soon the family is so poor and helpless that the whole family is working there in order to survive.
In my opinion the book should give more description. It shows the life of someone who was trying to survive with a few cents and a small piece of bread. I also like this book because it shows how hard life was for certain groups of people during that time. But it also can upset a lot of people because it tells a story of someone's hard life and what they had to do to barely survive.
I think people who are curious about what happened during that point of time and how it was written by a person experiencing this tragedy first hand. I chose to read this book because I am always wanting to learn more about what happened at that specific time period. If someone always reads historical non-fiction then I would recommend this book or even if you are a kid whose teacher is forcing you to read the most boring type of genera in the world then I would recommend this book to you as well. In all I rate this book 4.5 stars out of 5. ...more "
