The book is about the alien who came here to run away from his pursuer. The alien’s name is John and the story progresses by his perspective. The alien has his number which is the order that pursuers kill. “In the beginning, we were a group of nine. Three are gone, dead. There are six of us left. They are hunting us, and they won’t stop until they’ve killed us all. I am Number Four. I know that I am next (9)”. The aliens who are running away from pursuers are 6 now including John because 3 of them were already dead and John is the one who will be hunted next by the pursuers. He usually hides his identity and enjoys his school life.
I think the theme of the book is development because there are a lot of conflicts in this book. For example, there was a conflict between Mark and John because Mark picks a fight. While John was at the cafeteria the “second meatball flies through the air and hits me square on the cheek (63)”. Therefore, John went to Mark and bring “his (my) knee straight up into his crotch. His breath catches in his throat, and he doubles over (64)”. However, they had been a friend at the end of the book because Mark saved John’s life from the pursuers. I think the author made the conflict a lot because it can show the characteristics of each character and also it can show the development between friendships or his mind by the conflict.
The book was interesting for me because the book’s genre was fantasy and I like to read fantasy novels. I like fantasy novels because there are a lot of interesting settings and creation that we can’t see in real life. For example, the setting of “I am an alien (60)” can be the fantasy. However, the beginning part of the book was so boring. The book just introduced the setting of the story but it was so boring to read. I think making readers interesting in the book is one of the most important parts that the book should include. If the book is not interesting, then the readers will not read the book until the ending. Therefore, I think the book can make the introduction more exciting. For example, the book can begin when John just developed his Legacy. Then, I think it will be more interesting for readers to read.After the introduction, I liked the book. There are lots of events around John after the introduction. For example, Sarah “pressed her lips to mine and everything inside of me turns to rubber (163)”. There were a lot more events around John and the whole story after the introduction was interesting and I liked the story. So I recommend this book to read because after the introduction the whole story is so fun and I was fascinated by the book. If you like fantasy books, then I recommend to read. ...more "

"I finally finished the book. After the war, Mark and Sarah carried John and Henri's dead body. Also they rescued Bernie Kosar. They buried Henri and John "look away and squeeze Henri a final time with his face close to Henri and he lose himself to grief(436)".
