"I'm so happy to be back in this world and I CANNOT WAIT for Dead Beat!!! BUT, I told myself I reread Ninth House before Hell Bent so I just needed to reread Hell Bent before Dead Beat and I'm... a little bit lost XD I've forgotten bits of the climax of Ninth House and it kinda gets referred to A LOT in the beginning of Hell Bent here. "Again, I appreciate that we are indeed getting to see these distinct personalities. Obviously, McCann is a skilled writer of characters. But I don't LIKE the characters!! I would like to just see who wins the quilting competition and then I want to move on from this and never read about "sweet" little old ladies ever again. "More of the same: I would've enjoyed this book by itself, and I'm immensely enjoying the tandem read. They complement each other so well. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for Chaol being away from home right now BUT I also see how he can do nothing there and he is best served here getting better and hopefully getting an army.
