"I’m very ambivalent on this one. I love love love the premise and the world building, but it is also deeply triggering me. Our protagonist had better be on a journey of tremendous growth or I’m OUT. I like the metaphors but THREE YEARS???? Honey! You had better come clean and apologize. You will not get another chance." Apr 17, 2026 06:43PM

"I’m love January LaVoy but I am having very strong inclinations to dump this book. It started good, but they get way too close way too soon. And no sense of boundaries whatsoever! I thought that was how you were able to exist in a big city. For January I will give it another 10 percent but I don’t think I can do this." Apr 14, 2026 11:26AM

Margaret Atwood
“Ignoring isn’t the same as ignorance, you have to work at it.”
Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid's Tale

Anne Lamott
“I know some very great writers, writers you love who write beautifully and have made a great deal of money, and not one of them sits down routinely feeling wildly enthusiastic and confident. Not one of them writes elegant first drafts. All right, one of them does, but we do not like her very much. We do not think that she has a rich inner life or that God likes her or can even stand her. (Although when I mentioned this to my priest friend Tom, he said that you can safely assume you’ve created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.)”
Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Martin Luther King Jr.
“But I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough can you see the stars.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”
Kurt Vonnegut, Mother Night

Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
“Here is a lesson in creative writing. First rule: Do not use semicolons. They are transvestite hermaphrodites representing absolutely nothing. All they do is show you've been to college.”
Kurt Vonnegut, A Man Without a Country
