She points out that women were not allowed into the English universities without an escort who was a member of the college. Well, yeah, but men weren't allowed into the libraries without an escort who was a member of the college as well. I'm only 30 pages in, but so far I haven't seen one argument for the special hardships of women in the literary world that wouldn't also apply to about 99% of men....more
