Anna, the main character, is an eighth grader who never seemed to quite get what was going on. Having friendship problems, a mother in a hospital, and a new young mother, just didn’t seem right for her. Her parents got divorced, and her dad met a young woman. She became Anna’s stepmom, and was kind and caring, but not like Anna’s old mom. Anna’s old mom is in the hospital from a suicide attempt. Her old mom was just getting depressed and upset from the divorce. Anna’s best friend just wanted to look for new friends. All this stuff is getting in Anna’s head. She was just in a bad place.

This book really kept me turning the pages because I just felt what the character was thinking. I could feel that Anna was just sad and a piece of her heart was missing. She needed something to fill it in. She wanted her old mom back and I could really feel why. I was glued to this book each day because each chapter made me read more! Anna needed friends, and of course that is something a middle schooler needs. You need someone to have your back and I think that was another piece missing to her heart. It made me feel that someone could be having this tough time too and you might not know it.

One thing I would have liked if Anna’s old mom perspective was included. I really wanted to know how she felt, and what was going on inside of her head. I could tell she was upset, but I wanted to know more. Also, what kept me guessing is if Anna’s feelings about her stepmom would ever change. Anna did not really like her stepmom and didn’t give her a chance in the beginning. Towards the end of the book, her feelings started to change. I think it was a great thing that Anna’s feelings toward her step mom got better. Anna did make new friends, so things were changing and getting better.

Where You’ll Find Me is a great middle school read, because I think a lot of us can relate to the emotions that Anna has. I have never read anything that emotional and touching. Stories like this can be true, and it is sad. But, there is never a reason to give up. Hope you enjoy as much as I do! ...more "
