I'm not sure if I can include all I want to say about this book in my review, but I will say it's life changing. Eye opening. And a mind blowing experience telling his story discovering antidepressants weren't his catch all solution. By no means does he say 'antidepressants are incorrect', in fact he clarifies many times, they are ONE WAY to help a situation. He focuses more on how Depression and anxiety arent just in the brain. It's not just a chemical imbalance. It's so much more than that. An alert telling your body reconnect to the things we're so desperately missing.

The first half of the book Johann talks about the disconnections we have in our lives. The true (by what he's learned) causes of depression an anxiety in our society. I was surprised and validated. Because so many of the things I felt and still feel have made me feel abnormal, lazy, and simply wrong. But the way he spoke about the things he studied made me feel like I wasnt such a f*ck up. The things I was feeling were real, and were actually normal. He stated things I'd been thinking for years. Pulled them write out of my head and put them on paper. Society is messed up and is hurting us immensely.

The second half of the book he talks about reconnecting to the things we've lost and so desperately need to be happy, functioning human beings. A few parts in here had me confused. But I understood what his overall point was. These things are so important. People are important. Work is important. Nature is important, etc. His conclusion was excellent and well said. In fact, this entire book was well said and cleverly placed together to be cohesive and get your mind working with his.

I will never forget his story, and the people he's met. I won't forget this information, ever. Its changed my life and I would reccomend it to anyone. For people who know someone that's depressed or anxious, for depression and anxious people. For people going through unbearable life experiences. For people struggling with weight loss. Anyone. It was liberating and has something in there for E V E R Y O N E. ...more "
