"I picked up momentum there for a while and managed about 35 pages- however, other stuff is so much more accessible- I love Mitchell's use of language, and the deepening weave of character, incident and plot, but I can't get traction... Frustrating. Am now in my third year of reading this, and was really trying to get through it before Bone Clocks emerges. It's obviously a book that won't be hurried!" — Aug 20, 2014 02:41PM

"I've gotten to the bit where the protagonist is going to go and try to change his school-mate's life and I am literally too afraid to read on, so vivid is the set-up. I know this makes me a thundering great wuss. This is a very atmospheric and well crafted piece of story telling, almost too credible for comfort." — Jul 06, 2012 09:27AM

"I started this book twenty-one years ago. It is brilliant, but life keeps dragging me away. Everytime I come back I feel compelled to re-read the opening, which I have now read six times. I will finish this in about forty years time." — Jul 06, 2012 08:45AM
