"Writing is exceptional - she has a great ability to weave words; but this tedious story makes it difficult to read; also, too many characters who are hard to like-I'm not sure if it has to do w/ their actual characteristics, or if it has more to do w/ there being so many of them that none is fully developed. I'll keep reading, but, no doubt, it'll take some time to get through this one." Jan 12, 2013 07:03AM

Thomas Hardy
“A strong woman who recklessly throws away her strength, she is worse than a weak woman who has never had any strength to throw away.”
Thomas Hardy, Tess of the D'Urbervilles: Classic Collection

C.S. Lewis
“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

Mahatma Gandhi
“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”
Mahatma Gandhi, All Men Are Brothers: Autobiographical Reflections

Anaïs Nin
“Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings.”
Anais Nin

Maya Angelou
“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
Maya Angelou, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
