My wife and I have shorthand for things that require a strong and continued suspension of disbelief. We call them “science facts” , after a lyric from the old Mystery Science Theater 3000 show theme song. This novel had many so called “science facts.” Having said that, it was an enjoyable read. The horror creeps up slowly, then explodes. The ending is extremely satisfying. The book says a lot about friendship. I recommend it highly. To paraphrase the MST3K theme: “If you’re wondering how she eats and breathes, and other science facts/ Just repeat to yourself it’s just a show(book), you should really just relax.
