She is also very passionate about what she believes in, she is also a very open person. I did not like Luke's father because he was a very stuck up man who didn't let his son do anything and didn't give him the connection that he needed and doesn't let him be a child. Preferably I dont believe that he should have made it so Luke had to sit on the stairs to eat. They did not develop Luke's father at all because he didn't change in a good way in the book at all because he just kept getting strict and never got better.
2. The plot of the book was one of the better plots of books that i have read in the past. the author did a very swell job at developing the story to make it easy to read and understand what and where the caterers are at all times. my favorite part of the plot is when Luke finds out about jem and finally goes over to her house, that was one of best parts of the book, besides the ending. Personally I did not like the plot of inside of Luke's home. The plot from inside of his home was really confusing because there were parts were he was inside all of the different rooms and could never tell what one he really was in. That and the fact that the rest of Luke's family were never around and it would have been nice to know a little bit more of the background of the story.
3. The writing style of this author is one of the better ones that i have read because she does a good job with the plot and the setup of the book. she has a good job at developing the main characters, but she could have done a better job at developing side characters, and the story's for them. The author also did a good job at the dialogue,because she made is so there were all different types of dialogue. she did this by setting 2 characters that are alike and made them have different personality's and talk in different ways. I felt this way because it was way easier to understand what was going on. I also really enjoyed the part that she kept the same dialogue throughout the Whole story.
4. The main social justice theme was overpopulation. This is the theme of the book because in the story if you were a 3rd child and someone found out you would be killed. The book was able to pull off this social justice theme because they were basing it off of china's child policy and were making it as close to that. they were also progressing it by changing the setting in the beginning of the book so that Luke would not be able to leave the house. that was showing the growing tragedy of overpopulation that the government is trying to control. The author made it really easy to find the social justice in the book because she showed it in multiple locations, it is in all of the chapters that show something of that happening.
5. This book could be connected to to kill a mockingbird. In both stories there is a person who is getting discriminated on something that they couldn't or can never control. The characters are very similar and very different at the same time. The similarities in the characters are they are all young kids who are not able to be them selves. scout in tkam is a tomboy and Luke isn't able to act his age he is not able to anything that normal kids should be able to do. the differences is the time frame, i among the hidden Luke has to stay hidden and never can be seen but in TKAM scout will not ever just stop talking or trying to meat new people. The social justice theme also has it's similarities and its differences.
6. I can connect to this book because it has a lot of things that my personal life has. In one spot in the book the author had written that Luke said he wished Jen would get shot at the rally and than right after that he took it back. i can relate to that because i seem to do a lot of that in my life i say i wish my dad died but in reality it is just in the heat of the moment me getting mad. This book connects to the real world because their is a situation like this going on in our world right now it is the 1 child policy of china. the book i believe is based off of that. The same things that happen in the book probably happen in china because of overpopulation so they just arent allowed to have more than a certain amount of children. ...more "
