The narrator, one of the students, begins to filter the world through Pip's eyes. Charles Dickens is my favorite writer, so I automatically love this story. It is interesting how the very different worlds of England and Papua New Guinea come together. I also know a missionary family who serves in Papua New Guinea so it is doubly interesting. I also borrowed the audio version of this book from the library. The reader has an island-y sounding voice and is perfect for it....more
