Did I ask them when they came back, who was sick? Is she better now? I did not. I liked them both so much, Sandy and Jocelyn. I felt terrible for failing them.

Really be intentional about caring for others. Ask them questions about their life, don't spend all the time you have with them talking and/or worrying about yourself. It's okay to say things about ourselves, but not if that's the only thing we're doing. Actions speak louder than words, you can tell someone you care - but they'll truly believe it when you show that you actually do through the way you treat them. Don't take the people in your life for granted, lots of times they give so much for us yet we don't treat them close to the same way. We love these people but sometimes we don't show it like we should.

Harper Lee
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”
Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

F. Scott Fitzgerald
“He smiled understandingly-much more than understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced--or seemed to face--the whole eternal world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself, and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

Harper Lee
“It's not time to worry yet”
Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

Louisa May Alcott
“How beautiful that is!" said Laurie softly, for he was quick to see and feel beauty of any kind.”
Louisa May Alcott, Little Women

F. Scott Fitzgerald
“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
