"This is my first direct exposure to Goethe's Faust and while I'm only in Act I, page 30, I already feel fairly comfortable thanks to the extended readings in the Interpretive Notes and other rich supplemental reading provided by the Norton Critical Edition. I struck gold finding this used book at Half Priced Books!" Nov 23, 2013 01:02AM

"I began reading this at "Psychology of the Transference". Jung describes transference in terms of alchemy. An appropriate parallel as both operate heavily in the psychology of projection. Jung does a great job in receiving alchemy in the process. A must read if you wish to understand Jung's understanding of alchemy. I'm working my way up to Mysterium Coniunctionis." Søren Kierkegaard
“What is a poet? An unhappy man who hides deep anguish in his heart, but whose lips are so formed that when the sigh and cry pass through them, it sounds like lovely music.... And people flock around the poet and say: 'Sing again soon' - that is, 'May new sufferings torment your soul but your lips be fashioned as before, for the cry would only frighten us, but the music, that is blissful.”

“We live and work in a world that carries preoccupations about money, but what does the soul care about such things?”
